    3. Can anyone shed any more light on any of the following men? Thanks, Michael 1. William Green, Sr. possibly known as William Conley Green. Father: Solomon Green, Mother: Nancy Hodges. Born: November 17, 1823, in North Carolina. Spouse: Nancy Unknown. Children according to the 1860 census: Mary, Martha, Ellis, Bennett F. Occupation: Farmer. Service, 2nd Lieutenant, Watauga Company, 98th Regiment of North Carolina Militia. (Rothrewood [sic] area). Death 1890. Burial: Unknown. 2. William Green. Father: Adam Green, Mother: Rebecca Adams. Born c. 1840, in Ashe County, North Carolina. Spouse: Unknown. Occupation, Farmer. Living in the Beaver Dam township in 1860. Enlisted in the "Watauga Minute Men" on September 18, 1861. The Minute men become Company E, 37th North Carolina Troops on November 20, 1861. Mustered in as a private. Promoted to corporal on April 14, 1862. Captured on May 27, 1862, at the battle of Hanover Court House, Virginia. Confined at Fort Columbus, New York Harbor. Paroled and transferred to Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, where he was received on July 12, 1862, for exchange. Declared exchanged at Aiken's Landing on August 5, 1862. Returned to duty in November-December 1862. Promoted to Sergeant on February 1, 1863. Wounded at Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 1-4, 1863. Died in hospital at or near Richmond, Virginia, on or about May 16, 1863. Cause of death not reported. Burial place: Unknown. 3. William Green. Parents: Unknown. Born c.1839. Location: Unknown. Not on census records. Enlisted in Watauga County on September 14, 1861, in the "Watauga Marksmen." The Marksmen become Company B, 37th North Carolina Troops, on November 20, 1861. Father: Larkin Hodges, Mother: Mary Moody .Born c.1832 or c.1835, in Ashe County, North Carolina. Spouse: Celia A. Children according to the 1860 census: Sarah L. Occupation: Farmer. Lived in the Blue Ridge township in 1860. Enlisted in Watauga County, in Company B, 37th North Carolina Troops. Mustered in as a private. Promoted to st Sergeant in March - April 1862. Appointed 2nd Lieutenant on August 1, 1862. Killed a the battle of Second Manassas, Virginia, on August 29, 1862.
