Hello: I'm hoping you might be able to assist me in my research on the following surname: Bumgarner (or Baumgarner). I am the grandson of Donald Lafayette Bumgarner, b. ca. 1899 in Boone, North Carolina. He was a carpenter and went north to Pennsylvania to work in the coal mines around the Bradford (McKean County) area. He met my grandmother Shirley Flatt there. They were married and eventually moved to Warren, OH. My mother, Doris June Bumgarner (though her birth certificate has Baumgarner) was born in Warren in 1930. I have had a devil of a time tracking down my grandfather's history. About all I know is that he had a little brother named Orby Lee who died quite young (2 or 3 years old). Hope you can help!
