    3. Can't answer your question directly, but I know a Martha Guy in Newland, NC, in Avery County. If anyone knows about the Guy family, it would be her. She never married and lived alone with her sister for many years as primary caregiver. Martha is somewhat famous in these parts. She is in the telephone book, I am sure. If not, I have her phone number somewhere here if you need it. She would be happy to talk with you. Here are some Internet search results about her, complete with photos! http://www.ncspin.com/ncnotables.2005.08.11.php http://carolinafirst.unc.edu/connections/fall2004/guy.html http://www.mountaintimes.com/mtweekly/2005/0609/wncresidents.php3 By your request, I'm deducing that Martha Guy was her married name, since her daughter carries the same surname. Of course, that may not be the case, but it's rare that mother and daughter share the same maiden names. Have you checked the Guy Family Forum at Genealogy.com? There is a message here you might want to check out: http://genforum.genealogy.com/guy/messages/1616.html Contacting the author (or trying to) may turn up some leads. I came up with some hits at the Avery County Genweb site too: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncavery/ Good hunting!
