Stanley L. Critcher Mr. Stanley L. Critcher, 98, of 254 Critcher Lane, Boone, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Watauga Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1907 in Watauga County, a son of the late Millard and Addie Hodges Critcher. Mr. Critcher was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two daughters, Louella Northern of Hickory and Edith Osborne of Kirtland, Ohio; two sons, C.M. Critcher and wife, Evelyn, and Dean Critcher and wife, Christine, all of Boone; one daughter-in-law, Ann Duckworth of Spruce Pine; one sister, Hilma Critcher of Boone; and one sister-in-law, Judy Critcher of DeBary, Fla. Twenty-one grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Hampton Critcher; one son, Wendell Critcher; one grandson, Jonathan Critcher; a son-in-law, Brice Osborne; a grandson-in-law, Jiffie Skipper; two brothers, Fred Critcher and Carnie Critcher; and one sister, Lucille Hampton. Services were conducted Saturday afternoon, Feb. 25, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Kenny Newberry. Burial followed in the Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery.
