Hi! Sandi posted a message searching for infoon Hayes ancestors in Watauga County. I'm related to Bumganer and Benfield folks from the same region and found some Hayes boys in Company B, 37th NC Infantry, a regiment recruited in Watauga County during the Civil War. Names and vital dates follow: James Madison Hayes, 1825-1865 John A. Hayes, 1836-1864 Thomas Hayes, 1840-1862 (killed at Manassas, VA) Wyatt Hayes, 1844-1930 (buried in the Fairchild Cemetery, Watauga County) William Hays (or Hayes?), 1838-c. 1900 (d in OR) Need more info, I'll be happy to provide what I have.
