Thanks Ruth, I really appreciate that. I had the information from the 1920 Census, however, it is his father and mother that is causing me problems. Any information would be appreciated. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ruth Nielsen" <ruthalice3@verizon.net> To: <ncwataug@rootsweb.com>; <NCWATAUG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2008 8:54 PM Subject: Re: [NCWATAUG] Perry Family > Here is your grandfather in 1920: > > 1920 United States Federal Census > > Name: Robert L Perry > Home in 1920: Belmont, Gaston, North Carolina > Age: 40 years > Estimated Birth Year: abt 1880 > Birthplace: North Carolina > Relation to Head of House: Head > Spouse's Name: Lucy > Father's Birth Place: United States of America > Mother's Birth Place: United States of America > Marital Status: Married > Race: White > Sex: Male > Home owned: Rent > Able to read: Yes > Able to Write: Yes > Image: 1039 > > Household Members: > Robert L Perry 40 > Lucy Perry 39 > Everett Perry 16 > Ruby Perry 13 > Hall Perry 9 > Roy Perry 5 > Charlie Perry 3 8/12 > Rosa E Perry 1 3/12 > Robert Bradford 38 > > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > NCWATAUG-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
I am researching my grandfather, Robert L. Perry b. 2/14/1879 in Watauga County, NC, son of William Perry and Annie Bolick. He married Lucy Ann Hudspeth from Iredell County and they settled in Gaston County, NC. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated since I am at a brick wall.
Maybe I can find more tomorrow. On my way out the door to go to a local concert with grandsons. R.A. in CA

Hi all, I have been busy putting together the information I've gathered on my Boyd line from Russell Co., VA. I found that my great-great aunt, Melissa A. Boyd, b. 1848 in Russell Co., married an Adam Grimsley born 1849 in Ashe Co. I found him on the 1850 census for Ashe (at Ancestry.com), in the household of Nelson and Rebecca Grimsley. Adam and Melissa are found on the 1880 census for Russell. His brother, Thomas, was there with his own family, too. Adam and Melissa had two boys, Robert Winnie b. 1875 and Thomas K. (spelled Tonas on his tombstone) b. 19 Dec 1873. That census year, Robert W. was living with his parents (age 5), but Tomas age 7 was living in the household of his grandfather, Jonathan Boyd. By 1892, the two boys and Melissa had died, she from "typhoid fever" in Jan 1891, Winnie hanged himself in 1883 at age 8 (accident?), and Thomas K. Boyd (Grimsley) died 30 Dec 1891 at age 18 of "spotted fever." I believe Thomas/Tonas and his mother MIGHT have been living with his grandfather, since the death record says the death was reported by his grandfather Jonathan "HOF" (head of the family). That's just a hunch. His grandfather died 4 months later, at age 92. I want to know what happened to Adam. I cannot find him in any state on the 1900 census. I haven't found him in the death records of Russell County. If you have any clues, I would be grateful if you would share. Some of the Grimsleys lived in Watauga County in 1850, but I will also be writing to the Ashe County message board, since the district noted on the 1850 census was "southeast district" of Ashe. Cheers, Michelle Wilson Ligon <http://followingbreadcrumbs.blogspot.com/2008/01/jonathan-and-mary-burnett- boyd-family.html>
I come into the Greene family a couple of places. The most recent being my grandmother. Lois Esther Greene Goins (4/17/1932-4/8/1999) from Richlands (Sampson) Caldwell County on my mothers side. (daughter of Murray Farthing Greene and Emma Mae Storie Greene Robbins) On my fathers side the most recent would be Nancy Rebecca Green (1871-1940). She was was my gggrandmother. ----- Original Message ----- From: <teachword@bellsouth.net> To: <ncwataug@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 14, 2008 10:22 AM Subject: Re: [NCWATAUG] William Larkin Greene & Judy Caroline Hodges > Hi Katherine, > The article in the Caldwell Hertiage book was put in by my sister Judy who > lives in CA. Hi Katherine, The article in the Caldwell Hertiage book was put in by my sister Judy who lives in CA. I have some info on the Greenes, but I don't have it on gedcom. I did, but my computer crashed and I took it to get it fixed and the folks deleted everything I had. It was on Family Tree Maker. Where do you come into the Greene family? Loretta PS I wanted to tell you that Aunt Bettie was orignally named Lulu Bell and that she didn't like it so she had it changed to Bettie. He granddaughter, Barbara, told me that about a year ago. Sherry, Excellent work! I'm sure many more people than you even realize will refer to your generous handiwork in years to come. Michelle

The 1860 Census for Blue Ridge, Watauga County, NC lists Thomas Hodges and Phoebe (Moody) Hodges with a daughter Judia C. Hodges, age 3. Phoebe Moody is a sister to Mary (Polly) Moody who married (Rev.) Larkin Hodges. Polly was born 10/4/1798 and would be a bit too old to have a child born in 1857. I am related to the Green(e) Families as well as the Moody Families. My gg-grandfather was Joel Moody, the youngest son of Edward Moody and Frances (Fanny) Carter, parents of Phoebe and Polly Moody. I would be interested in what you have for your Greene lines. I have quite a bit myself but mostly about the ones who migrated south to Caldwell County. Thank you to everyone in this group who helped me with my research over the past 2 1/2 years for my Winebarger-Oxford- Miller-Holman-Blackburn-Moretz and Ford (Thomas Floyd Ford family of Ashe Co.)-McDaniel-Curry families of Watauga Co., NC! I created a "freebie" website for my relatives since everyone is cast about the country which includes several picture albums with more photos to be added next month. I hope to place a draft of our family history on the website for everyone's review/input by early February. Visit http://winebarger-fordhistorylegacy.tripod.com/index.html to see my developing web site (turn off your pop-up blocker software if you have it before visiting the website for a quicker download). There are six separate page links on the left side of the home page. Any information you can provide on the adoption of John Festler Winebarger by Cunrod Winebarger's family, Winebarger School, Old Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, Zionville School or Miller School along with old pictures would be greatly appreciated! Again, thank you so very much for your help! Sherry Winebarger-Reeter Abingdon, VA m-sreeter@embarqmail.com
