Katherine, My Green/e line weaves in and out all over the place. Hodges and Norris are my main lines and if you go to http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/h/a/l/Jamie-L-Hald/index.html you'll see my pages there. If you are looking for a specific branch of the line, let me know and I can narrow your search. My Greene's go all the way back to the ones from New Jersey in the Rev. War and migrated to the Watauga area. Let me know if you can't get to the link. I also have that Nancy Louisa Miller was also married to Abner F. Greene around 1880. Abner was born May 8 1857 and d. after 1900. He was the s/o Edmund Greene and Manerva Catherine Stine. Abner and Nancy had Horace b. Jun 1880 and Hardin b. Nov 1887. The 1900 census states Nancy had 3 kids with 2 living. Her mom, Nancy is living with her and is listed as Nancy Holder age 73. Thanks I dont know why I had it wrong. I thought the date was wrong too but wanted to double check. My neighbor used to live across from Grandma, and them when they were in school and he said he remembers Tish from when he was little. I would love to see the old photos too! Unfortunately I only vaguely remember Oscar since I was little when he passed. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Edew31@wmconnect.com> To: <ncwataug@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 18, 2008 10:54 AM Subject: Re: [NCWATAUG] William Larkin Greene & Judy Caroline Hodges > > Thanks, for letting me know about the error on Mae's death. I've done that before too, Sherry! That's doable on the 1850, when the population wasn't so huge. And, I find that not all names have been transcribed on Ancestry.com, so it's worth doing when you have someone illusive. I understand that the hired transcribers are people for whom English is not necessarily the first language, so their take on some names is different. -----Original Message----- From: ncwataug-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ncwataug-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Mark & Sherry Reeter Sent: Friday, January 18, 2008 11:19 AM To: ncwataug@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NCWATAUG] Greene I sometimes just use the first name of the person (or someone in the family with an odd name) and the township they lived in to do research since transcribers of the census records sometimes get the surnames wrong. Thanks, for letting me know about the error on Mae's death. The date I picked up was the date of marriage to Oscar Robbins. The death date for Horace Greene comes from the tomb stone. I do know the date cannot be 1928 because I remember when he died and I was born in 1931. I knew all the members of the Horace Greene family. I grew up in the Blackberry Community. Murrary and Mae were good friends of my parents and they visited each other often. I know Junior and Lois and was in school with them. My grandmother Greene was a Storie, so I have a good amount of info on that family. I do have some old pictures of the Horace Greene family. I have a picture of William Smith Ford and Sarah Teague Ford and Nancy Louise Greene Miller. Will be glad to share. I live in the Happy Valley area, my telephone 759-1231. Ed Greene </HTML>

your death date for Emma Mae Storie Greene is wrong. She was my great grandmother and she passed in 1998 not 1966. Also our record shows Horace Greene's death date as May 6 1928. Can your let me know where you got your date? Hi all, I'm in the process of looking for just about all Adams in the U.S. on the 1900 census. Trying to find Adam Grimsley. I found one 1870 record for his father Nelson under the last name Gimoley instead of Grimsley! So, I sent a correction to Ancestry. This 1870 census was taken in Oxford, Johnson Co., Kansas. By 1880, Nelson had his daughter "Delia" or Cordelia and her family with him in Austin, Cass Co., Missouri. I just wanted to mention that Adam GREENE of Beaver Dam, Watauga, NC, is transcribed for the 1900 census on Ancestry.com as Adam Grune! Everyone in the family is listed under the wrong surname. I sent a correction, but I wanted to let everyone know in case you're looking for them on Ancestry. This sort of thing happens a lot, which is why I'm looking simply for all Adams b. 1849 in NC, at this point. You just never know how their names will be transcribed! Kind regards, Michelle
