Hi Sherry! Thank you so much for posting that information. I am also descended from William Miller and Mary Eldridge(Aldridge) by way of David Miller and Elizabeth Norris , to their son William Miller and Elizabeth Morphew, to their son John M. Miller and Rebecca McMillan, to their daughter Sarah Elizabeth (Betty)Miller and John Caldwell Blair, to their daughter Lillian Beryl Blair and John Paul Smith. Heinrich Miller is a new addition for me as is William's middle name and the birth year. This is wonderful. Where did you find that information? I try to document all the information I can. Thanks so much! Gail **************Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape. http://body.aol.com/fitness/winter-exercise?NCID=aolcmp00300000002489
So far that is the only source that I've sited. I play with it sometimes, but haven't found any other confirmations. It's a "work in progress." :-) Didn't know about the Charlemagne connection with this line, so will have to follow that as well. Richard is the s/o Larkin Greene Sr and Mary Greene while Mary Caroline Lewis is the d/o Christen Lewis and Nancy Miller. If you have other relatives that rode with Roosevelt, the records for this group are all on line at the National Archives. When you type in the link it will take you to a page that says timed out, but has a yellow search button. Click it and on the next page you'll see a box in the upper left type in spanish american War and volunteer and Green The next page will list all who rode with the last name of Green. Henry is about the 3rd person down the list. If you have other relatives who rode with Roosevelt, just change the last name OR just type in Spanish American War and volunteer. Enjoy! Not directly related, but I have a Nicolas Miller from Rowan whose son John came to Russell Co., VA. The Millers married into the Counts (Kuntz) family who came to Russell Co. from the German settlement in Shenandoah, VA. So, I suspect my Millers were also from Germany (Muellers). Nicolas is one whose name is known through several branches of the family tree, but we have no proof yet. He is said to have lost a leg due to injuries at the Battle of Kings Mountain. Family researchers think Nicolas was b. abt 1740. So, if you ever come across a Nicolas in your family, let me know! His son, John b. 1771 (Rowan), had a son named Valentine b. 1816 (Rowan). Valentine came to Russell Co. by 1846 since that's when he married into the Hale family from Franklin Co., VA/Russell Co. Valentine's son David Payne Miller was my g-g-grandfather b. abt 1847 (Russell, VA). I have a digital copy of a photo of Valentine's brother, Moses Alexander Miller, and one of David Payne Miller and his daughter Nannie Mae. In any case, I'm interested in your family's migrations since it will help me know more about mine. Thank you Sherry, for posting about that! I don't know much about the Jersey Settlement. Maotakoa, aka Pocahontas, aka Rebecca Rolfe married John Rolfe in Jamestown on April 5, 1614. About 1 year later she gave birth to a son Thomas. She died in 1618 during a visit to England, where she was buried. Her only son Thomas was left in England to be raised and educated. He later returned to Virginia as a young adult. His father John Rolfe was killed in the first Indian Massacre on March 22, 1622. Unless your line can be proven back to Thomas Rolfe, you cannot be descended from Pocahontas. John Smith was only a friend, although a close one, of Pocahontas. They had no romantic relationship. Smith went back to England in 1609 after a serious injury and never returned to Virginia. He was never married and had no known offspring. Jon Smith <jon.smith.1234@comcast.net> wrote: Have you been able to find any other confirmation for your Source #4 to Pocahontas? Jamie, Aunt Nelia's name was Hattie Cornelia Greene and Nelia was a nickname for her. We use to go see her when we were small. A cousin (Mozella Triplett Estes) also told us the same about her name. I found a record for Ada and her name was Nevada (same dates) and she married John Freeze. I am interested in information on the Miller family. I am a descendant of David Miller as well. I have the family line back to Willilam Miller and Mary Aldridge. I am not sure, however, if William Miller came from England or Germany. I think his name was Mueller, and he came from Germany, but left Europe for the U.S. from England. Thank you again Ed for all your help. You have provided so much info and I appreciate it. Bettie's name was formerly Lulu Bell according to her granddaughter. (I did find records for her after I found that out.) Bettie changed it because she did not like it. I also saw the same thing with my father. We had always ask if my dad had a middle name and was told no. But in the records I found "Doctor" to be his first name. But, after he reach 18, the records showed he had dropped this first name. So, even back then children did their own thing if they had a mind to. :o) As far as Judy Caroline Hodges, I am wondering if Mary "Polly" daughter of Phoebe is the Mother of Judy. Thank you again. The obit of Authur gives his name as Arthur Curtis. (I have sent obit to you) Looking at the 1900 & 1910 census for Yancey Galyen family, there does nos seem to be a Spencer. I think the stone with W. M. could be Monroe. All of the stones of William Larkin and Judy Greene family are getting hard to read. A lot of people would change their names to make them easier to write. Bet that what Nelia did. Ed </HTML>
Ed, Let me know what you think, I have Minnie Lee Greene as the wife of Specer Gayon. Do you know the differnce between him and Arthur Curtis Galyen? I have a s/o William and Judy as Monroe who died as a child. Could this be your W. M. Greene? Your Nelia Greene I have named as Hattie Cornelleous Greene; same birth date. Ada I have b.
