    3. Have you looked at a copy of Estep Thomas Sr. c. 1709 to 1772 of Frederick Co. Maryland & His Descendants. This is the definative book on the Estep,Estepp,Eastp and Esteb family. A very large 2. volume works on the Estep familys. I have a copy and would be glad to look up your Estepp's for you if you have not already done so. I would need a bit more to go own. Known d.o.b.'s; would be a great help. Was your Clyde b. in 1907 ? 3. Becky Just this morning I was reading in the Heritage Book of Watauga County, NC., and I remembered reading something of an Isaac Greene. it appears that this Isaac was a son of jerimiah Greene Who lived in Rowan County. His Mother was Hannah Green and his brother was a Richard Greene. If you have this book,(it was printed in 1984) you will find this info on page 201. I am related to the Farthings of Watauga County, and am also related to Gideon Green of Anson County. Watauga sprang off of Anson County way back there. but so far i have not been able to connect my Anson Co green's with Watauga Greene's. anyhow I hope this may help you. Margaret HAVE A BLESSED DAY

    2. Becky Carter
    3. Hi subscribers, I would like to hear from someone familiar with the area. My ancestor, Isaac Greene was know as "Mountain Isaac" and lived in the Mulberry area of Caldwell county. His cousin was known as "Flatty Isaac" and lived in the Meat Camp area of Watauga county. Does this make sense geographically? I thought Caldwell county was lower in elevation than Watauga. For a while, I thought My Benjamin, son of Isaac was connected to the wrong Isaac because he actually lived in the Meat Camp area but upon study of the Census records etc. it appears that he does indeed belong to Mountain Isaac. I would love to hear from any Watauga buff of Greene researchers who could shed some light on this situation for me! Thanks. Becky Carter

    1. [NCWATAUG] James and Elizabeth SPEARS
    2. The Carver's Daughter
    3. I am looking for information on a SPEARS family of Watauga County. The husband MAY have been James SR. Wife was definitely Elizabeth. They had a son name James and one named Alfred. Both husband and son James were either dead or out of the picture by 1850. 1850 census of Watauga Co shows Eliabeth SPEARS age 44 or 49 Louisa SPEARS - this was Mary Louisa HARTLEY who may or may not have been legally married to the son James SPEARS she was age 22 Malinda SPEARS age 3 - this was daughter of the son James and Mary Louisa HARTLEY In 1845 there was a marriage bond in Ashe Co for a Calvin HARTLEY [brother to Mary Louisa] and Susannah MAYS with James SPEARS as the bondsman. The son, Alfred SPEARS was born about 1829. By 1850 he had married Nancy and moved to Russell County, VA. By 1860 he was living in Tazewell Co VA. Living with him were Elizabeth SPEARS age 62 and Malinda [now using her middle name Jane] age 13. James. the son, may have been the Jim SPEARS referred to on page 20 of History of Watauga Co as "having no more brains than is absolutely necessary". It describes how Jim and two friends intended to have Jim cover himself with lampblack so the friends could sell him as a slave in SC. After they got their money he was to wash and then make his way back to NC. Sometime after this plot was hatched, Jim disappered. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
