    1. Re: [NCWATAUG] Re: Watauga book, where can I order?
    2. Hi, In answer to your question, yes, for those who move VERY QUICKLY, the Vol. 1 can be bought at the $55 presell price. THAT IS, MAIL $55.00 TOMORROW. This is the last call. Vol. 2 is also still available. The price on it has been reduced by the folks who first had it published. (they are tired of storing the books) I am CCing this message to Sanna Gaffney. Write her and she will let you know exactly what the SHIPPED price of the Vol. 2 is. Both Vol. 1 & 2 have local area history, as well as some information about the early churches of Watauga. And then, of course, there are all those family articles. By the way, the numbers referenced in the indexes of the books refer to article numbers, not page numbers. A great place to find more local history, as well as some family histories, is in the John Preston Arthur book, A HISTORY OF WATAUGA COUNTY. That book is online here: http://www.geocities.com/familysnooper/Arthur/contents.html That book is in public domain and has been reprinted and can also be purchased from Sanna. Any profit Sanna has from the sale of these sort of things is used either to purchase genealogy materials for the Watauga public library, or is used to help pay for a scholarship at ASU. Not positive on those details, but Sanna will be glad to fill you in if you will ask her about it. Remember, this is the LAST CALL for the Vol. 1 at $55.00! If you need more information, please feel free to ask. I did have someone tell me they have received their Vol. 1 reprint yesterday. Sharon > Hi! I am interested in purchasing this book at the prepaid price. 1. [NCWATAUG] Reprint Shipping Update
    2. Hi Folks, I've had several folks check with me about the fact that they have not yet received their copie/s of the Vol. 1 reprint. I called Sanna and she said she talked with them today to see what the holdup was. The way I understand it is that the shipping labels were printed up with both PO Box #'s and the street addresses. Since the shipping is via UPS, they wanted them to go back and make new labels without the PO Boxes. Anyway, redoing the labels hindered the shipping, hence the delay. Sanna said she believes the books will be shipped out this week. Also, until Sanna receives her boxes of books to sell out of, she is still accepting payments of $55.00, which is the presell price. Later they will be more. Sharon

I have a few pages someone kindly mailed me of my family in the book. I have not seen the book, but can you tell me if it is filled with wonderful biographies, photos and history of the area, and is it a big book? 1. Re: [NCWATAUG] Cemeteries
    2. Hi, If you will check the Links page on the Watauga NCGenWeb site, you will find 2 links to a list of many of the cemeteries. One is a list of the video taped cemeteries done by John Heaton and a friend. The other is a map that lists 72 Watauga cemeteries and shows their location. Also, for a specific cemetery, you might post to the list and find help. http://www.geocities.com/familysnooper/Wata_cemeteries.html 72 watauga cemeteries showing map locations are here: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnisprod?f_name=&variant=N&f_state= North+Carolina&f_cnty=Watauga&f_ty=cemetery&elev1=&elev2=&cell=&pop1=&pop2=&my_ function=Send+Query&last_name=&last_state=&last_cnty=&page_cnt=&record_cnt=&tab =Y (on the long address above, you may need to check and make all the parts are connected, with no blank spaces in the address) http://www.geocities.com/familysnooper/Wata_links.html Thanks, Sharon > Hello, > > Can anyone give me most or all of the cemeteries in Watauga County and > directions on how to get to them. 2. Sharon Williamson
    3. Hello Watauga Researchers! THE REPRINT IS DONE!!! Sanna called this morning and said she has received her copy of the Vol. 1 reprint via UPS this morning. If you have pre-paid for a copy/copies then you should receive them via UPS soon. As yet, I haven't gotten mine. This officially closes the PRESALES price for the books. Extras have been printed, but the price will be a little higher. I'll have to check my messages from Sanna and will be posting that info on the Watauga web page. Thanks to all who have sent orders that has helped make this reprint possible. Sharon

    2. Myra Vanderpool Gormley
    3. I am tracing all the children of Abraham Vanderpool (1766-1831) and Phoebe Isaacs (ca 1770-1833) who once lived in the Cove Creek area of Watauga County from about 1794 until they and several of the children removed to Marion County, Indiana in ca 1830. Their children were: 1. John VANDERPOOL = Susannah REESE (probably daughter of Valentine REES/REESE/REECE) ca 1815 (removed to TN, then to IN, IL and MO) 2. Elizabeth "Betsy" VANDERPOOL = (as his second wife) Daniel LEWIS in 1820 Betsy died ca 1830. They had at least 7 children: Abraham LEWIS, b. 1820; John LEWIS, b. ca 1824; Richard LEWIS, b. ca 1826; Jonathan LEWIS, b. ca 1827; Daniel LEWIS, born ca 1829 and said to have married Martha HENDRICKS; and Louisia LEWIS, b. ca 1828, who was the second wife of Abraham YOUNCE (remined in Watauga County). Amy VANDERPOOL = Thomas SWIFT ca 1815-16. Removed to Marion County, Indiana ca 1830. Nancy VANDERPOOL = Alexander Harmon BAIRD in 1826 (they remained in NC). Their children: Bedent BAIRD, b. ca 1827 = Susan Jane Merchant, Gibson County, IN; Abram BAIRD, b. ca 1829 married Elizabeth HARTLEY; Joseph Warren BAIRD,, b. ca 1831, married Rebecca HARTLEY (removed eventually to Kansas); Ezekiel BAIRD, b. ca 1833, married Sarah WILSON; Elizabeth BAIRD, b. ca 1839 married a Hiram WILSON; and Jonathan BAIRD, b. ca 1844, supposedly died during the Civil War. Phoebe VANDERPOOL = Richard LEWIS Jr. in 1822; had at least four children: Rebecca LEWIS married Thomas ROBBINS; Nancy E. LEWIS (never married?); Malinda LEWIS, married Thomas DAY; and William LEWIS. William VANDERPOOL = (1) Mary "Polly" FUSON (of Tennessee) in 1828. This is my line and I have all 10 of their children, plus the 10 William had by his second wife. William removed to Indiana, KY, MO, Iowa, Kansas, MO, AR and died in Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory in 1884. I would especially like to make contact with descendants of the two LEWIS lines.
