    1. Abner & Mary Isabelle Combs Adams Reunion Plans
    2. Larry and Sharon
    3. Hello Abner and Mary Isabelle (Belle) Combs Adams descendants! The descendants of Abner and Belle Combs Adams will be meeting this year near Boone, NC on September 10, 2005 from 10 am till . . . . That is the first Saturday after Labor Day. The usual park in Mountain City was not available for that date, so the Reunion will be held at the Hopewell Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. I'll bring the ICE and some food. Please bring Covered Dishes and drinks to share with the group. There is no certain menu, just bring something good and we'll hope for a real feast! If you can bring Plates, Forks or Napkins let me know. The Fellowship Hall has a full Kitchen and plenty of tables and chairs, as well as a covered area outside. A real nice place and we will take up an offering to give to the Church for letting us use their building and facilities. The church is located on Hopewell Rd., just off Hwy. 194 North. That is about 6 1/2 miles from Boone where 194 turns off US 421 there at Perkinsville. (Turn by Hardee's by Lowe's Foods and where the old Roses store was). As you go out from Boone, you'll pass Meat Camp Rd. on the left. Then you'll pass the Meat Camp Baptist Church on the left. Next you'll pass the Big Hill Rd. on the right that goes to Greene Valley School. Next, on the right you'll pass the old Greene Valley School on the right. You'll pass the dumpsters on the left. Next will be the Hopewell Rd. on the left. Turn there and the church is at the top of the hill, right in the curve. Come, meet old friends and new. JUST COME! Also, PLEASE, SPREAD THE WORD! Time is short for getting the word out to everyone. ************************************** FYI Known Descendants of Abner and Mary Isabelle Combs Adams, as I have them in my FTM files. I know my information is woefully incomplete, but maybe this will help some decide if they are descendants of Abner and Belle Adams. Also, I stopped at my mother's generation. Didn't want to publish too much information here. Note that George Willett Adams and his first wife, Alice Norris are buried in the Hopewell Cemetery. I descend from George Willett and his second wife, Bessie Eggers. I know that Willett's sister, Alverta has some descendants with the surname "Barlow" and "Sutherland". If anyone knows how to contact any of them, please let them know about this Reunion. I hope my Uncles Dwight, Ray, Smith and will be there. Dwight just turned 93 and if you haven't met him, don't miss this chance to meet the three of them. They are George Willett's three youngest sons. Also, at the Reunion I will have information about where Abner and Belle are buried, with directions on how to get there. Please bring any information you have that would be of interest to others. I'm gonna put a message up on the Watauga NCGenWeb mail list. Please keep discussions that are specific to this Reunion in direct mail to me and others that are listed on the mailing of this message. That way it won't wear the folks on the list out with discussions that aren't of interest to them. I'll keep you informed on anything else that comes up. 3. Hi, everyone, and especially Gwen Dalseg, who I wasn't able to find her ancestor on the Cherokee Rolls. I realize that I am on the "Watauga" list, but a lot of people on here, have helped me a lot. I'll get back to Mr. Wagner off of the list. I've learned more about N.C. and Watauga especially, in this past week. I promise to stay in touch, and I always read the messages. So, all of you take care, and it was nice to meet some of you. Then in the Dawes-Guion-Miller rolls of 1898-1914 there were more of them but no Moses, but there were 3 women, 2 named Mary one followed with a J. and the other with an E. I think that I'd really need her maiden name. Sorry, I couldn't help more. Take care, Dorothy

    3. Dorothy, Thank you for offering to research Cherokee Indian heritage. I am married to a Teague who was born in Boone. His Grandfather, Moses Teague, was born in Ashe County. No one has substantiated it, but there is talk in the family of a grandmother who was a full-blooded Cherokee. Her married name would have been Teague, and her first name may have been Malinda. I would appreciate any information or leads you might have! 3. Sorry, this is a repeat - It never did come across on the list for me. sharon Hello, I am glad to announce that the Abner and Mary Isabelle Combs Adams yearly reunion will continue this year. We will try for the same location and around the same time. I'll have to wait and see if, or when, I can get the park. Meanwhile, if you are a descendant of those good people, drop me a line and I will put you on a list that I will keep updated without flooding the Watauga list with little tidbits. In the end, when final arrangements are made, I will make an announcement to this list. Ok cousins, it's time to make yourself known! If you have attended the reunion in the past you know what a great group of cousins you have. If you are from this line and haven't ever attended, come find out what you've been missing. Drop me a line, and try and get in touch with all our cousins and let them know. Thanks, Sharon > Juanita Cole Miller >Allie Belle Adams Cole >George Willett Adams >Abner & Mary Isabelle Combs Adams

Parents were William Ray and Elizabeth Gordon I am very much interested in the Ray family because Elizabeth Ann Ray b 1755 married to Nathaniel VanNoy and he was associated with my Miller family. Elizabeth was a sister James above and Jesse Ray. Jessie married Ellender "Nellie" Baker, sister to the Rev Andrew Baker. 1. Norris Family
    2. John F. Crossen
    3. Dear Charles and Janie: Howdy Cousins! :) My g-g-grandmother was Leah Norris (1844-1908), sister to Jacob J. Norris. Leah was b. in Elizabethton, Johnson County, TN. She died in Oklahoma and I have a picture of her gravesite there. She was married first to Anderson Grogan and then to my g-g-grandfather Robert "Bob" Mitchell (1844-1925). Her daughter Nora Mitchell Bumgarner, born in Watauga County, (1879-1964), was my g-grandmother. Good to meet you! I have some thick Norris files right now, including some genealogical documentation. I also have some emails out to two Norris historians re: our family in North Carolina. Will be happy to share anything! BTW, Charles: Rebecca Smith Norris lived with Leah in her home in Watauga County in her last years. I have this on a census record (1900, I believe--will doublecheck!). One question I hope to clarify: How does Capt. Jacob H. Norris of the 13th TN Cav relate to our Norris family? He was from Johnson County, too. 1. Binghams in Cove Creek
    2. Greetings, I am looking for information on the Binghams who were located in Sugar Grove/Cove Creek in the late 1800's and into the 1900's. My Grandfather was WO (William Otto) Bingham and a Doctor in the area. We are trying to figure out who his parents and and their siblings were. He married Cora Alison who was from TN. She is buried in Cove Creek. They had a 400 acre farm on 321 in Sugar Grove. He was born in 1884 and died in 1950 in Elizabethton, TN. His children were Blanche, Helen, Mary Lee, Robert and John. He had sisters named Ruth, Pearl, Edna and Hattie. They moved to Roan Mountain in the late 30's. Hi daughter, Mary Lee remained on the farm. There are rumored to be some "love children" out there that caused the move. The family wouldn't talk about it. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Suzy Trivett Pearson
