I visited the Courthouse in Washington Co NC and copied the deed index 1799-1899 for the Davenports and the Ambroses. I have the Davenport Index finished (several hundred names) and it is on-line. Remember for every deed there are two names so even if you don't have a Davenport in your line but do have ancestors from Washington Co NC drop by and see if you find their names.
