    1. [NCWASHIN-L] Washington Co NC Anniversary
    2. Linda Haas Davenport
    3. Is everyone aware that the 200th anniversary of Washington Co NC is this year? The Historical Society is planning several different things for the month of June. The celebration kicks off on Sat Jun 5th at the first house built in Washington CO NC - the Davenport house. You can read all about it on the Washington Co page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncwashin/washing.htm My husband and I visited the house a few months ago when we home for a visit to Creswell and it's a wonderful restoration. It really let's you see how our families lived "back then". The Collins House will be open that week-end so don't miss taking the tour and see how the true Southern Plantation owners really lived. The folks who manage the house are great. And talk about a contrast!! The difference of the small farmer (The Davenports) and the plantation owner (The Collins). Anyway if there is anyway possible you can make it to Creswell on June 5th we'd love to have you!!
