Tom: I did a search for you and found: Bute County, North Carolina Minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, 1767-1779 10 February 1778 A Deed from Jesse Jenkins to Howell Moss was acknowledged by the said Jesse and Martha wife of the said Jesse being first privately Examined by William Person Esq'r appointed by the Court for that purpose relinquished her right of dower in the said Lands Conveyed and on Motion the same was Ordered to be Registered. 1. So a Jesse Jenkins in Bute Co in 1778 had a wife named Martha. An Index to Marriage Bonds Filed in the North Carolina State Archives. Raleigh, NC: North Carolina Division of Archives and History, 1977. Bride: Betsey Ford Jinkins Groom: William Christmas Bond Date: 23 May 1790 County: Warren Record #: 01 043 Bondsman: Jessee Jenkins Witness: M Duke Johnson Bond #: 000160225 2. A Betsey (Elizabeth?) Ford Jinkins married a William Christmas in Warren. Appears her father supplied the bond. Warren County North Carolina Marriages to 1825 House Jenkins, Tabitha Thomas Spouse: House, Tabitha to Jenkins, Thomas Marriage Date: 04 Feb 1782 AND THIS IS CURIOUS?!! North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868 Bride: Tabitha House Groom: William Christian Bond Date: 08 Jul 1794 County: Warren Record #: 01 042 Bondsman: Ransom Kimbel Bond #: 000160220 3. Thomas Jenkins married Tabitha House in Warren Co in 1782 BUT who is the Tabitha House who marries in 1794? Bute County, North Carolina Minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, 1767-1779 10 February 1778 A Deed from Roger Thornton to William House was proved by the oath of Thomas Jenkins a witness thereto and on Motion the same was Ordered to be registered 4. So Thomas Jenkins was in Bute Co in 1778 and appears to know William House.
