I'm new to the Warren County list, and wonder if anyone can tell me whether there are any published volumes of abstracts of deeds from the 1790s to 1820s, and where they might be found. In particular, I'm looking for anything related to our James Gabriel HARRISON family. He married Hixcey ROBERTSON in Warren County in 1802, and their five were children born during that period. He was born in Brunswick County VA, and relocated to Logan County KY around the (unknown) time of the death of his his first wife Hixcey. I don't think there are any Deed Books available right now, but if you check out the Rootsweb Warren County Website, you will find many of the Will Book entries for that time period online. Click onto the links listed under Abstracts of North Carolina Will Books, by Mary Hinton Kerr, they are the Will Books 3 - 16 which cover through 1812, I believe. These Will Books are actually the deed abstracts for the county. I think some of the links are not working because they are overhauling the website, but most of them are still there thru Book 15. If you have Internet Explorer, once you get to the page in the Will Book, click onto your "Edit" button at the top of your browser, and type the name you are looking for under "Find". This will make it quicker and easier to scan the pages for what you are looking for. It also has the Tax Lists for 1811 and 1814 on the Website, which is a good source of information: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncwarren/wills-idx.htm Also, be sure to check out the the Bute County site also because it, too, has the early Deed books online: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncbute/data-idx.htm There are also Court Records for the time period, a series of "Warren County, North Carolina Minutes to the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions" by Ginger L.
