To Dawn and Norma: My source of the statement quoted (that Archiblad M Brown married Tabitha Beckham in 1778) is the book by Becky Dozier, Town Leaders, Littleton, North Carolina, 1790-1920, page 37: "Stephen left six children at his death: Stephen Beckham Jr.; Elsie Beckham, who married John Watson; William Beckham, who married Ann; Jesse Beckham; Tabitha Beckham, who married 4 August 1778, Bute County, N. C., to Archibald Mitchell Brown; and Susanna." This is confirmed by a Bute Co marriage bond of that date for Tabitha Beckham and Mitchell Brown.
