Amen. My great grandmother was the same way. It was a prearranged marriage and she was only 12 yrs. old. to and old gentleman I assume because their are no children. He passed and left her his estate & money. When she was 33 she remarried. It's amazing that a 12 yr old could operate a household with responsibility. My 15 yr old can't remember to take out the trash. Often this happened because the old man was getting a pension - especially the Confederate pensions - which the widow would continue to get after his death. As for children being responsible - it was routine for parents in the nineteenth century to sign up 12 year old boys as cabin boys for sailing vessels going around the world. Nowadays we would hardly leave them at the mall for a couple of hours. Carol Dawn Richardson wrote: > > Amen. > > My great grandmother was the same way.
