    3. Could well be a misspelling. Or, if it is a different clan, then perhaps some of that line moved into Warren by 1820...(that's assuming I even really SAW it in 1820...I'm strictly going by memory at this point, so I might be in error anyway). In any case, if the index in Wellman's book is correct, then MASON isn't found in Warren in 1820...at least not as a head of household. Frankly, it sounds to me like Bebe's reference must be the illustrious Nathaniel Macon. I think I was hoping the Mason reference were immigrants from Nottinghamshire anyway. <grin>...a bubble which you very well may have just burst. ;-) My HOYLE clan came to Warren ca 1819 from Nottinghamshire, so I keep looking for somebody who came WITH them! ;-) --Sandy ---- Ann Avery Hunter wrote: > > Sandy wrote: > > > However, and I don't have the 1820 census here to prove this...but I do > > think I remember seeing the surname MASON on it. > > According to Ancestry.com's census index for Granville Co. in 1790, > there was a David Mason there.
