    3. Hi Nancy, I'm not working on this line but I may have a little info for you. From the 1755 Granville County, NC, Tax List, GEORGE RHOADS, 1 white poll From North Carolina Taxpayers, 1701-1786: GEORGE RHOADS - shows in Granville County in 1755 JOHN RHODES - Bute in 1771 JOHN RHODES & Son WILLIAM - in the area later known as Franklin/Warren/and Vance in 1771 Also in the 1771 Bute Co,NC Tax List: JOHN RHODES - with a total of 2 polls From the Muster Rolls of Granville County, taken October 8, 1754, in Col. William Eaton's Regiment under Capt. Richard Coleman's Company: GEORGE RHODES from "History and Genealogies of Old Granville County, NC, 1746-1800" by Thomas McAdory Owen, abstracts of wills and administrations: Thomas Perry. Admn. No bond or will on record. Inv. ret. by Gideon Macon, March 6, 1758: among other items: "1 pare of Gould Eare Rings, x 1 Ivory Comb x som(e) Tan Leather, a Sett of Shoemakers Tools." Id. p.39. Admr. ret. of sale of Mch 16, 1753; amt &11. 14. 4 1/2d; purchasers at sale: John and Gideon Macon, Abagall Jones, John Thornton, Mad'm. Eaton, GEORGE ROADS, Moses Myrick, Ephraim McLemore, Edward Holleman, James Nichols, Danl Pegram, Benj'a, Egerton, Coll'o. Wm. Person, Wm. Reed, Rich'd. Smith. Id. p. 40-1. Admr. Acct. ret. to Ct. June 19, 1759, Gideon Macon Ad'r. Id. p.70 It is possible that the John Rhodes was George's son, and that the father was dead or no longer in the county by 1771. Since Granville was the parent company of Bute, formed 1764 -1779, and later Warren,Franklin and Vance counties, you may also want to consider looking into the Granville records and checking out that site. As for other records for Rhodes, or any person you might be researching, I suggest you check out this link at the North Carolina State Archives, and click onto the MARS link on the middle left hand side of the page. Type in a search for your name and see what kind of records the Archives might have for your ancestor. http://www.ah.dcr.state.nc.us/sections/archives/arch/default.htm Good Luck.
