To John Summers who asked about Cartan-Paschall I am a descendant of Thomas Paschall. My records show that 3 of his brothers had daughters named Elizabeth. The brothers are: Samuel (born April 1, 1727-Died 1805). His daughter is Bettie--born March 12, 1761. Elisha (born 1735) and moved to caswell County early in life. His daughter Betsy(elizabeth) born 1765. James)birthday unknown-Died1791) Will probated in Aug, court 1792. Thomas had a daughter Elizabeth who married William Bartlett. If any of these sound familiar to you, get back and I will share any other info I may have.
Does anyone have data from the LDS film 0453671, Warren Co tax lists, 1779-1808? I would be most grateful for a lookup from any of the years 1804-1810. Many thanks, John Ottinger
Looking for information on the parents of Henry Glover and/or Sarah Darnall/Darnel who were married 1769. (Records in Bute Co., NC exist for Henry and Sarah in 1777, and in Warren Co., NC from 1785 through 1802. Rebecca Glover who married Henry in 1795 is mentioned in deeds of 1793 and 1802.) Thanks for any help.. Mignon
There appear to be two Plummer family cemeteries, one located in/near Warrenton and used by a Caucasian Plummer family, and one located in/near Ridgeway and used by an Arfrican-American Plummer family. Some cemetery tombstone listings were compiled by the WPA through the NC Historical Survey in 1938 and 1939. These are available on a microfilm which I have seen at the Halifax County library in Halifax. There is also a more up-to-date hard-copy listing of Warren County tombstone listings, photocopied from originals in the Warrenton courthouse, at the Granville County library in Oxford. Neither of these resources is available at the Warren County library in Warrenton. Jim
No I don't know where it is as I have only been in North Carolina once for 3 days in 2000. I will post this to the Warren list and someone may be able to tell you. joemcdo wrote: >Hi Ginger, >Do you know where the Plummer Cemetery is located and if there is a list of >the people buried in it? Hello! I'm looking for information about Benjamin Edgerton/Egerton & Thomas Turpin's families who lived in the area in the 1700s. I appreciate any information. Thanks in advance. Roxanne
I am searching the Martha Hoyle/George Clark Families as well as connected families of Matthew Strickland/Nancy Bunn; Budd Bunn/Susanna Richardson. My paternal grand parents were George and Martha Hoyle Clark. My maternal gr. gr. grand parents were Matthew and Nancy Bunn Strickland. Nancy was the daughter of Benjamin and Catrin Massey. Looking for any hint of the grave of Timothy Hoyle, killed in the Civil war on James Island. Also the burial site of George Clark, wife of Martha Hoyle. John Clark
I would love be in contact with anyone who has information about the Cyrus, Harris, and Morriss families living in the Warren/Halifax areas in the late 1700's to early 1800's........ Marylyn Douthit

Nancy Fleming Payne b. 19 Dec. 1802 ?/04 Warren Co. NC m Benjamin T. Thornton,Jr. on 16 Sept. 1819 in Elbert Co., Ga. Died between 1850 and 1864? in Elbert Co. Ga. I can't find anything on her, can someone help?! Martha Vickery Bryan Roswell, Ga.
Pat, The Evans Family in Warren County area seem to have first appeared there with the following people: Burrell or Burwell Evans, listed as Negro in 1771, and 1784 in Granville Jane Evans , in 1771 in Bute Major Evans, listed as Negro, in 1771 in Bute, 1769 in Granville James Evans, listed as Free Colored, in 1790 in Warren, but he never appeared again. I've been trying to find the connections between all of these Evans, and have been trying to determine who were some of their descendants. I have a list of at least 2 - 3 lines of Evans, but unsure who was their direct ancestor. My Evans is James Evans, I think, because I have been tracing a family from 1814 when a James Evans, Mulatto, was born. He first shows up in 1850 in Warren County, with 12 children. It's possible that your Nancy could have been another sibling of my James because I haven't been able to verify the family relationships. There were several other Evans in Warren by then, and they all seem related because of the places where they lived and, sometimes a child of one would show living with the other. Do you think your Nancy could have been from this branch. I am interested in Shearins, Balthrops, Colcloughs and Brewers. My gr.gr.grandfather was Thomas Willliam Shearon, b. 1803, who changed the spelling for some reason as an adult, and was the son of William Shearin and Elizabeth Balthrop. Elizabeth Balthrop's mother was a Colclough. I am also descended from Rice Brewer, through his son Sterling Brewer. Rice appears as "Reece" Brewer in the index to vol. II of the Minutes to the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, but not elsewhere. While I'm writing I'll take the opportunity to ask if anyone can tell me what the terms "District" and "Ordinary" mean. I suppose they are geographical or jurisdictional divisions of some sort, but I don't know what sort. Perhaps someone who knows could refer me to a source of information. Shearin's Dictrict and Shearin's Ordinary are mentioned in the index to vol. I. Colclough's Ordinary is mentioned in vol. IV. Also, "Shearin's Road" is mentioned in the index to vol. II - does anyone know where that road was? And a further, possibly unanswerable, question: why are there so many men with the Christian name "Rice" and "Sterling" in this area at that time? Were both taken from family names? If so, who was the Rice or Sterling so honored? Thanks very much to Ginger, who does such a wonderful job.
