    3. Is there someone out there who could tell me how to find out if there was a deed of land made by David Gill to his daughter Elizabeth "Betsey" Gill after she married Moses Neal in January 1785 in Warren Co? The deed may have been for land in Warren Co, but possibly in Wake Co (see below). I live in Texas, so can't do personal research in the NC archives and will really appreciate any help. David Gill of Warren Co. purchased land in <Wake Co> in 1784, the year before Elizabeth "Betsey" married in <Warren Co>. Apparently he didn't move the family to Wake Co at the time he purchased the land, since Elizabeth married in Warren. David must have moved to Wake Co. at some time though, because when he died between January and July in 1788, four years after purchasing the land, his will had been recorded and was probated in Wake Co. In his will, he gave land to his other children, but only a money gift to Elizabeth, leading to the conclusion that she had received her legacy when she married. So, I would assume that a deed to Betsey had been filed in either Warren or Wake Co sometime between 1785 and 1788, but most likely closer to 1785, and it may have been made to Elizabeth Neal or to her husband Moses Neal. Will appreciate comments. Dolores Kinsey

    3. No, my lines from Warren County are: Williams (Fork Township) Davis (Fishing Creek Twsp) Sneed (Fork Twsp) Rodgers (mostly Fishing Creek) Green (Fork Twsp) Copeland (Warrenton, Fishing Creek) Evans (mostly Shocco, Warrenton) There are also side families of Richardson and Hodges, which I've done very little on. Most of mine were either African American or Mulatto. Deloris

    3. Has anyone else noticed that part of the 1870 Warren County census pages are missing online? In what is listed as Township No.8 and 9 on some pages, Littleton P.O. there are pages that seem to miss an entire neighborhood. I believe the area is what was later known as Fork. It's not just a matter of a family not being there, but it can easily be seen that the pages were skipped for some reason. On Ancestry it is listed as Image 305 Missing, while on Genealogy.com it just ends after Image 40 in Littleton. And of course, the families that I want are on these pages because I know they didn't move from their locations, and were there before 1870 and well into the 1900's and are still there, but with different names, naturally. It is plain to see that the census was recopied because of the repeated pages with neater writing later, but I was just wondering if anyone knows if these missing pages actually exist somewhere? 3. Hi, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that most of the answers didn't post through the Mailing List. Here is what I sent out to another member who didn't see a reply: Here's what they basically all say: The general rule is that if the infant is under fourteen, the court has full authority to name his guardian but if he is fourteen or older, he can nominate his own guardian subject to court approval. This guardian is usually required until the "child" reaches 21 or 18 depending on the state law at the time...or the instructions given in the will. Intestate proceedings usually follow the "becomes of age" which might be 21 in North Carolina...depending on the year. So basically an infant is any child under 14, and under 21 who required a guardian. It was also pointed out that the old laws only recognized two types of circumstances: INFANT and ADULT And again, thanks to all for the interest. This guardian is ususally required until the "child" reaches 21 or 18 depending on the state law at the time...or the instructions given in the will. Intestate proceedings usually follow the "becomes of age" which might be 21 in North Carolina...depending on the year. So I would say the answer for infant is any child under fourteen and any child above 14 to age 21 would still require a guardian as well. Hope this helps. MJZ

    3. Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone can answer my question. Does anyone know exactly what age range is meant when old documents mention "the infant of"? The reason for the question is that many old court and deed records I've come across say something about leaving property, etc. to the infants of someone, yet from other records of the same time those children weren't necessarily babies, and indeed some may have been teenagers. So I get the idea that the meaning is much broader than is used now. If someone more familiar with the terms could reply, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Deloris

It is on the USGENWEB Project website and it has extracted pages from the Bibles listed on the Warren County site, with a complete name index for every one of the bibles listed at the Warren County Courthouse. There's plenty of birth, death and marriage info as well as names of slaves listed in those bibles for many of the families from Warren County and is a good resource to search. 1. [NCWARREN-L] Re: Please read! Virus alert don't delete - HOAX
    2. Again - this is a HOAX!!!!!!!!! DO NOT delete jdbgmgr.exe There's a rule of thumb with everything - if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is... If a virus sounds this easy to get rid of - DON'T buy it... Viruses are NEVER as simple to get rid of as just going in and deleting a file - ask someone who has really had one. Rule of thumb #2 - if your virus definitions are up to date - you are probably safe from most viruses and the likelihood that you have a "new" one, well it isn't very likely... This hoax has been circling for awhile now - PLEASE take the time to check things like this out before automatically assuming that your computer has a virus. If your system is running fine and you're not having a bunch of difficulties, if you can get online just fine and someone isn't telling you that you are sending out virus attachments, then don't be so quick to delete ANYTHING on your machine... ALWAYS check to make sure that things like this aren't a hoax. For what it's worth...

You are irritated because of your poor communication with your Apartment Manager, who failed to tell you about the Dec. 18th delivery of your book. So now you wish to shift blame elsewhere (anywhere). Get a grip, please!   NCWARREN List members can clearly see that you are embarrassed at your own ineptness.  Further you are blissfully unaware of the preparation and publication process for County Heritage books  It is regrettable that you could not contact committee members.  Here's a wild guess.  Perhaps they have other things on their agenda?  These folk are Volunteers, who lovingly prepared the manuscript, the photos, collected and deposited ALL FUNDS in Warren County, and then prepared the shipping labels!  Just like you (not communicating with your Apartment Manager) could it be they also are human and made mistakes? Can you spell "L-I-B-E-L" Celeste?  You may want to brush up on that word and its meaning before you continue your negative campaign. Most of us LOVE County Heritage books.  Sorry you've had such a tough time. C. Heath By the way, we have the book and absolutely love it!  It arrived on 12-18-02 just as yours did.  We'd be happy to do any look-ups for folk who did not get a copy! ----- Original Message ----- From: <Heritage2@aol.com> To: <NCWARREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2003 4:17 PM Subject: Re: [NCWARREN-L] Warren County Heritage Book > Thank you for informing the group Becky!  The book is proving to be an >  interesting and good resource of information.  Kudos to the Warren County > Committee and to everyone who submitted articles and pictures!!!!!! > > It remains unfortunate that County Heritage fails to acknowledge their lack > of responsibility in this issue.  (1) Unresponsive to emails for 3 months; > until of course I made my concern public on the listserv; (2) financial > records that were ill kept <at least on County Heritage's part>; I was asked > to show payment via a cancelled check; (3) then the miraculous discovery of > documentation and confirmation indicating I had paid and a package tracking > number to boot!
