    2. G Stephens
    3. I haven't posted anything lately but if anyone finds any information on the Stephens (Stevens) line I would be grateful if you would pass on to me. My Stephens's are from that area and earliest known Stephens I have is James Calvin Stephens born about 1802, had left area by approximately 1848-1849 and moved to Tennessee. He married Mary Manier in Warren County on January 10, 1822. One child was born in Caswell County. James may also have originated or have some ties in Nash County. Thanks for any help. 2. Thanks for your assistance. Yes L. A. is my first cousin but some of his info is not correct although he spent considerable time and effort working on it before his illness. He never could explain where Judkins came from except that it was the name of a nearby family. No Harris ever married a Judkins so I don;t know what he is basing this on. I always thought it might stand for Joseph as that is a family name. Sallie

    2. Not to worry if you don't have time but John Alderman told me he had found a marriage bond for my Wyatt Smyth(Smith) to Elizabeth Wilks in Warren Co, NC about 1804. He passed away before he was able to do further research. If you look in that direction, fine. Thanks

Sallie, "Sketches of William Hicks, Abner Hicks, Jasper Hicks, George Harris, James Crews, John Earl and Something of Some of Their Descendants With comparisons of present conditions of living with those of sixty years ago," by Thurston Titus Hicks, privately published September 1926, Henderson, NC ------ about the author: Thurston Titus Hicks, b 14 Oct 1857- d 28 July 1927; born at White Oak Villa, Granville Co, son of Benjamin Willis Hicks and Isabella Jane Crews married: Mary E. 2. Hi, I would love to know about Nutbush. Was it a creek of some size? My Thomas Henry Rives lived in the area (although I think it was in Granville Co. portion) after he was in Mecklenburg co., Va. but before his removal to Chatham Co., NC where he died. His 2nd wf was Mary Edwards. This would have been about the Rev. war period. Also, what were the Nutbush Papers? Is the map of the Warren Plantations available for viewing on the net? I am also interested to know if Samuel Yeargain, who had over 1,000 acres is noted. His land was primarily on the n. side of the Roanoke River, the wedge which was cut off from Northampton Co. when Warren was erected. His other land was opposite side of the river, Little Stone House Creek. His dau. by 3rd marriage, Sarah Yancey Yeargain, inherited n. side (was still a toddler) in 1785. She m. Thomas Alston later so map could say Thomas Alston plantation, depending upon date. Samuel's dau. by first marriage, Anne, m. Lt. Col. William Alston, son of Joseph John Alston and Elizabeth Chancey of Halifax Co., NC. She inherited Yeargain's Little Stone House Crk. property.
