    3. Dawn, also there were no names EXCEPT the head of a household before the 1850 census records so you will not find names of wife and children in these early records. Go to Cyndis List or some such site and pull up the blank census records for 1840 and back and see what information you will/will not find on those early records. Good luck! 3. I do go to the national Archives in Kansas City...the research room is very nice and there are volunteers to help you find what you need...My local library has a genealogy room that has census and other records of that ahve been bought and donated by people doing research..since a lot of Tennessee people settled in Missouri, we have a large volume of Tennessee research materials.... I think all national Archives centers are set to be helpful to researchers, but check with your local library to see what they have first.... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Census for all States and many foreign countries, from a Mormon (LDS) Library, check your phone book, there probably is one right in Ft. Myers. They welcome people who are not members of their church. You will find volunteers who will show you how to use all of their facilities and how to have them order files that they may have in their Salt Lake City headquarters. Those volunteers welcome beginners, they do not find questions to be stupid or too easy to be answered. I recommend it.

    1. Re: [NCWARREN-L] National Archives
    2. Dawn, the closest National Archives to you is in Atlanta. If you need specific info, go to http://www.nara.gov/regional/atlanta.html for hours of operation, phone number, and address. Your Fla state archives may also have census records of the other states. We have all states census records in Raleigh, NC, for example. If you want to find out more about NARA research, you may want to look for that topic on Cyndi's list or on www.rootsweb.com for general info on what to expect. I've never been to an Archives branch, so I have no first-hand experience to share.

They are in most NC towns with a decent genealogical section (Durham, NC has them for example), and they are at the NC Archives in Raleigh. Do you live near a National Archives?

    3. Hello, Does anyone have any of the census's for Warren County (Sandy Creek District)earlier than 1850? I was wondering if I could get some help looking up my family names. On the 1850 census there is a Patsy Brown, Chas Brown, Eliz Brown & what I believe to be Hirsy Brown. There is no husband at this time and it is believed that he may have already passed.
