Hi Forrest, I know you have done a tremendous amount of research on the families in Warren County and I have printed out the pages for "Ancestors of Frank Pierce Davis and Mary Hinton Duke". I am a descendant of Peter Davis through his son, Matthew. My question is have you come across any information about Dr. Matthew Williams, son of William Council Williams. I have that he married Anna Bryant and he was born August 6, 1820. However, I can not find when he died and exactly what part of Warren County he resided. I believe it was Littleton, but I am not sure. I have that he had four children, one of which is my great grandmother, Julia Williams Martin. If you have any additional information, I would really appreciate your help. My gggg-grandfather, Joshua Davis, appears to have been from Warren Co, NC. He was born in N.C. c. 1771 and moved to Wilkes Co, GA, c. 1790. I've been planning to try to unravel the Davis's in Warren Co in an attempt to find his family, but I haven't gotten very far. Although Joshua and his son, Joshua Jr., had normal hearing, quite a few members of their family were born deaf. As this is unusual, it might help establish a connection. Would be interested in what you have found, and would be glad to share my information. Steven Davis
Do you know anything about the Jones family which had a daughter married to M. Johnson? My Jones family is from that area. Karen
Thank you for responding. When I saw that he had 15 children, I was hoping that one of them had done some work on the family and was tuned into the Warren County list. My interest was really in son-in-law John Davis. I try to sort out all the Davises as I get a chance. The implication from the Raleigh newspapers also is that Marmaduke was married for a third time. His second wife, Elizabeth Jones or Mary Jones I forget which, had died around 1800 and that he left a widow and 15 children. I have figured out who 8 of his children are if you are interested. Hi Jim Thank you for the info about the naming of district's such as Johnson's, Thornton's, and Colclough's. But I am still left with the question of where were these located? Can one determine these things? Once again, thank you. William

I am researching the BUSH, JACKSON and HARRISON families of Caswell Co. My gggrandfather was Shadrick Bush, born ca 1804 and married to Cynthia ? I believe this family was closely allied with the BRINTLES. Shadrick had cousins who were JACKSONS. Solomon Jackson and Jeremiah Jackson were relatives. Thomas HARRISON who died 1789-90 in Caswell was another of my ggggrandfathers. His will only mentions two daughters. Would like to trace his family. Thanks. Does any one have any info. on the 1850 census at the Sandy creek twp. Warren CO,NC of Jane Coley age 27, head of household.. Nancy A. Coley 7. James A.Coley 6, and Elizabeth Coley 3. I think she was my great grandmother, that married Samuel F. Williams in Warren county in 10-10-1864. my Grandfather was b. in 1873 in warren co.NC.[Henry Williams] The age is right for her to be my g.grandmother. She must have been married to a Coley at the time. I would like to know what happen to the children that were listed in the census in 1850. I would like to know who her parents were. Can any one in Warren county have any assest to any of this info? Some one told me they thought her father was a cobbler by trade in the town of Warrenington. and in 1860 census he was listed as having one or 2 of the Coley staying with him. I believe his name to be a Campell or Cambell ? I'm not sure. I haven't been able to find anything. Would someone please look up in the 1860 census to see if Jane or the children can be found, and The Cambell or Campell ,man with a Coley child or children living with him. Jim, I was only going by notes that were given to me - perhaps she was born in what later became Warren Co. - Bute? Or Granville? These same notes (DAR records) also stated that she and Drury were married in Warren Co. in 1768, but guess it must have been Bute? Thanks - it will make a difference in where we look for records. I am new to this list and thought instead of just "lurking" I'd post my family of interest and hope that someone would recognize it. Drury Jackson was born in (probably) Brunswick Co., VA Feb. 2, 1745 and married Ann (Nancy) Mayfield b. c 1749 in Warren Co., NC, in 1768. Drury died February 20, 1794 in Wilkes Co., GA). Ann (Nancy) died November of 1837 in Wilkes Co., GA. Drury was a Revolutionary War Patriot serving in the Militia from Warren Co., NC under Elisha Clark. Their children that I know of were Elizabeth who m. George Muse; John, b. c. 1773; Hartwell, b. July 5, 1777, m. 1st. Luticia Elizabeth Bostwick on Jan. 13, 1801) 2nd. I am looking for the family of Stephen Jackson who married Jane "Jimmy" Brooks in Greene Co., GA in 1805. According to the 1850 census he was born in NC 1780 and Jane was born in Virginia. >From this point on I have a good bit of information on this family which I am willing to share.
