Does anyone have access to Civil War Rosters for NC? I'm looking for Samuel Richard Randolph who enlisted in the NC 45th at Burnsville. I'm not even sure Warren is the right county. Any help appreciated. Jan
Ginger and I are going to take over responsibility for the Bute Co. GenWeb site. I tried to think of an appropiate picture to put on the home page and all I can think of would be a picture of Gideon Macon's home place. If anyone has a photo or picture we could use, I would appreciate a copy. Also, if anyone on the list has a web page with information on a family with roots in Bute Co. prior to 1779, please send me a link and we will post it on the Bute Co. web page. Forrest, I know you will go at the top of the list with all the lines you have posted but I know there are probably many others that I may not know about. Please send me links to your sites. Also, if anyone has anything that would be useful to post on the Bute Co. pages, please let me know. With such a short period to cover, we will appreciate ANYTHING that anyone has to contribute. One other request, I have a little article on my webpage re Daniel Pegram and Agnes Jones. It is based earlier work and I think it may be inaccurate. If someone with links to the early Jones family in Warren Co. could look at what I have and tell me if it is accurate or totally off-base, I would appreicate it. I will post it on the Bute Co. site - IF it is accurate. Otherwise, I want to remove it from my own site as well. It is at: http://www.patch.net/related/jones.html Thanks, Nola nduffy@patch.net http://www.patch.net

Could someone tell me if I can still buy the Heritage Book and if so how much and where do I send the money? Thanks, Esther Blair Radcliffe http://www.geocities.com/eradclif
Thanks so much for asking, Sue. The committee is busy proofreading the family articles, and has just polished the topics (communities, churches, etc.) and we are shooting for a late fall, or December (worst case) 2002 delivery. Please pass the word along. The Warren County book is a reality, it (just like wine) "will not be delivered before its time". We can assure you the book will be worth the wait! By the by...same for Granville County. We're hard at work on it, too! William WARTHEN b. about 1760-1770 married Phoebe PUCKETT on December 23, 1790 in Warren county NC. James WARTHEN b. ? married Nancy PUCKETT on June 16 1785 in Warren county NC. Both of these girls are thought to be the daughters of Shippe Allen Puckett. Does anyone have any information on whether or not these two WARTHEN'S were brothers or who their parents may have been? I'm sorry I can't send useful information, but this name, "Paschall," reminds me that I've wondered several times if it isn't a version of "Pearsall," both names occurring frequently in Warren County. Often the pronunciation of a word with a certain regional accent creates these alternate spellings, as in "Carter" and "Cotter." -----Original Message----- From: Bburtray@wmconnect.com [mailto:Bburtray@wmconnect.com] Sent: Thursday, June 13, 2002 12:23 PM To: NCWARREN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NCWARREN-L] Thomas Paschall Walker Thomas Paschall Walker belonged to Company C , Regiment 46th, (Stephen Jones. Can I add one more thing? ANY TIME anyone gets a "Virus warning" that tells you #1 - simply go in and send this file to your recycle bin and then go directly to this recycle bin and delete it out immediately and your problem will be solved. #2 - pass this on to everyone you know' #3 - they often PLEAD for you to send it to everyone you know IN ALL CAPS - PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS VIRUS #4 - there's no file attachment (and when someone has a virus on their computer, it usually gets sent to you, without their knowledge, in a file attachment)... Usually when you spot these things, you can rest assured it's a HOAX... I would NEVER delete anything from my computer without checking symantec's website first.. I have never had a virus that was so simple to clean up that all I had to do was just locate a file and send it to the recycle bin... I have one friend that gets them on her computer all the time, and NEVER when I have gone to fix her computer for her, have we ever been able to simply delete a file... Usually it's quite a process cleaning them up... Symantec Worldwide Home Page - if in doubt, look it up....
JDBGMGR.EXE New name. Same old hoax. Last May, the SULFNBK.EXE hoax caused thousands of gullible users to delete a perfectly legitimate system file. Now the same hoax is circulating, this time targeting the equally benign JDBGMGR.EXE. As with the SULFNBK.EXE hoax, it is likely a result of confusion caused by the Magistr virus. While the hoax mail urges users to search for and delete the file if it is found, in reality, JDBGMGR.EXE should be on the system - it is a standard windows component included with Internet Explorer (at least as far back as version 3.02). For those hapless folks who've deleted the file, reinstalling Internet Explorer or downloading an updated version of Microsoft Virtual Machine should solve the problem. The email hoax urging users to delete this necessary file may be preceded with the dire sounding "National Virus Alert". Following is a sample of the hoax: Hi, everybody: I just received a message today from one of my friends in my Address Book. Their Address Book had been infected by a virus and it was passed on to my computer. My Address Book, in turn, has been infected. The virus is called jdbgmgr.exe and it propagates automatically through Messenger and through the address book. The virus is not detected by McAfee or Norton and it stays dormant for 14 days before wipe out the whole system. It can be deleted before it erase your computer files. To delete it, you just have to do the following: 1) Go to Start, click on "Find" 2) At "files or folders" write the name jdbgmgr.exe 3) Be sure to search drive "C" 4) Click on "find now" 5) If you find the virus (the icon is a little bear with the name jdbgmgr.exe) DO NOT OPEN IT FOR ANY REASON 6) Right click on it and delete the file (it will go to the recycle bin) HOAX!!!!!!!!!!!
