For all who have expressed an interest in the Bible records, have at last found someone who is willing to copy ALL the Warren Co. Bible records that we do not already have. She did not want to do them on an individual basis so I am going to pay her in advance to get them done. She is simply charging on an hourly basis + copy and mailing cost so it should work out to be a very nominal sum for any given record. Once I get them all in hand (probably a couple of weeks) I will let the list know and then send them to anyone who wants a copy at cost on a prorated basis per page. I will simply ask anyone who is interested to send me a SASE and I will get them out to you. My ONLY request is that if you order a copy, PLEASE transcribe them for our Warren Co. site. For the orphan files, I will try to do them myself - if I can read them. From what I have already seen, many are just not suitable for scanning - otherwise I would scan all of them and send them that way for free but m! y guess is that the largest files will run less than $3.00 with many one page files under $1.00. Don't ask yet but I will let everyone know as soon as they are available. Nola
Thanks to everyone for jumping in to offer help with the marriage and death records. This project seems to be a done deal! Don't expect anything spectacular because this is only the marriages and deaths that made their way to the Raleigh, N. C. newspapers.. still I thought it was worth doing. I was reminded of the old saying of "Still waters run deep" - I had no idea we had so many people who were so willing and eager to help. Believe me, I will do my best to find other projects to take advantage of our collective talents. If anyone has any ideas, please pass them along and I will try to see what we can do about getting them done. Thanks again, I was truly humbled by the response. Nola
If anyone would like to help abstract Warren Co. marriages and deaths from the Raleigh Register, please let me know. I have the marriages and deaths from the Raleigh Register for 1846 - 1893 in .pdf format. This period of almost 50 years covers 500 pages and I simply can't read them all - besides the fact that I often miss things. You don't even need to type them - just look at the pages and send me a list of page numbers which include Warren Co. records and I can then OCR them without retyping. All you need to have is the ability to read the .pdf images and the ability to take pages as e-mail attachments. I can't promise we will even find much but it should be worth a try. Thanks, Nola nduffy@patch.net
Due to the popular requests of many of you I will be working on Warren County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions Vol. 8. 1823-???? I hope to finish this around the new year. Ginger
I was able to access the books by going to "Site Map" heading. Linda

Nola, The only way I could get to your newly added material was to put in the surname I was looking for in the search engine, click on a Will Book result from there, say Will Book 10, and keep clicking at the bottom of the page on "next" till I got to Book 12, etc. I didn't find a way to go directly to the books you have added. Perhaps this is what others are referring to. I got to where I was going, but in an indirect way. Thanks again for making it available to us all. Sue
Ann Bartlett Lee, I have read your post and notice that you have forbearers in Warren County. I, also, am descended from Bartletts from Warren County and would like to compare notes. My great, great grandfather was Churchwell Bartlett who married Rebecca Hawks. Their daughter, Permelia I. Bartlett was my great grandmother. Please reply to me at: camayh@cox-internet.com Thanks, Carolyn Haisty
How do we pull it up please? Does anyone have a marriage book with Josiah S. Spivey marriage to Mary Scenia Ivey or any info on my gggrandfather Josiah S. Spivey? Thanks for your help. June

Dear Nola, Thank you for all the work you're doing in uploading the Warren Co. Will Books to the county web page! I'd like to know if you're planning to extend the project to cover 1818? I've just found information that there may have been an obituary in the Raleigh Register of my GxGM Ruth Scott's death in Warren Co., NC in December, 1817; however, I've not been able to access records of the Raleigh Register covering this time period. I'm hoping Ruth may have written a Will that was recorded in Warren Co. c1817-1818. Francie
The abstract of Will Book 13 is now online. It should be available for searching in about 10 minutes. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday! Nola
I have been looking thru census records in Warren County for 1810 and 1820. (Looking mostly for Peter and Micajah Walker.) In 1810 there are 15 Walker's listed. In 1820 there are only 5. Does anyone who knows the history of the area have an idea why so many would have left at that time? As far as I can tell there was no county line change at that time to account for the change. Paula
Wanted to let everyone know we have added the abstracts of WB 12 to the Warren Co. GenWeb site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncwarren/ We should get WB 13 done this weekend so check back tomorrow or Monday. Nola nduffy@patch.net

Wanted to let everyone know I have gotten a few more of the Will Book Abstracts online. You might want to wait about 10 minutes so that the search engine can index them so they will be fully searchable. These start with WB 3 and I have 3-11 done. Hopefully we will get the remainder online by the end of the month. Check them out at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncwarren/ Enjoy! Nola
Hi folks. This is my first posting on the Warren site. I'm trying to connect Grisham kinfolk. Specifically, at this point, I'm looking for the parents and siblings of Benjamin Grisham (often spelled Grissom) that moved from NC to Sumner County, TN before 1812. Consistent generational names in this line are William, Thomas, Samuel, James, John, George, Catherine and Sarah. I realize these names were very common in all families, but in this Grisham line they seem to be present in every single generation. Would love to connect with ANY Grisham's in NC, as this is new territory. The link might come later. Appreciate your time. Thanks. Jenny at eddnick@aol.com
If anyone would like just a little quick light reading, I posted 2 little items on the Warren Co. GenWeb page today. One has to do with a dinner party given by Kemp Plummer in the early 19th century and the other is about election day in the early 19th century. These are little items that were written by Ellen Mordecai in her unpublished book called "History of Hastings" and quoted in Sketches of Early Warrenton. I also wanted to ask if anyone knows if the "History of Hastings" was ever transcribed by anyone. It should make really fun reading. Nola
