On October 17, 1883, those Tar Heel Confederates who had been buried in a mass grave at Arlington were re-interred at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh. I am speculating that there would have been a well-attended ceremony for this occasion and that the area newspapers would have covered it. Does anyone know how I could go about checking the newspapers of that time (the Raleigh News and Observer; the Smithfield Herald?) for such an article? Thanks for any suggestions. Steve Dixon
