A few years ago, I found my gr.gr.grandparents' marriage in the Wake Co., NC marriage records. Simon DRAKE married Patience GREGORY, 1 May, 1817. Simon was found in Rowan Co., NC on the 1830 census and I know for a fact he was there for the birth of the third child in 1823 and 3 subsequent children were born in Rowan Co. In 1840, Patience Drake was head of household in Greene Co., IN. Just yesterday I received a temple film from SLC that has Simon and Patience Drake marriage listed with the RICEs of NC. Only one was from Wake Co. however. William D. Rice married 11 Aug., 1845, Aby D. MARRIOTT. Among all the Rices' marriages there were only 2 for GREGORY. The above named Patience, and Charles GREGORY who married 2 May, 1818, Polley JACOBS in Person Co., NC. Thomas Pritchett entered these names for baptism which was accomplished in the Manti Temple, Utah, 1954 and whose proxies were done by the CLARK family who were either visiting or living in the area at that time. I don't know the connection between the GREGORYs and the RICEs of NC. Nothing further was in the IGI or the AF on any of the names submitted for baptism. Please, is there anyone in Wake County who could help me on the GREGORYs, especially? We have nothing on Patience, not even where she was born. I would bet Charles is part of her family, however, perhaps a brother. Shirley Drake Maynard
