I spent many years in Knoxville, where the Holston flows into the Tennessee, and, earlier, lived near the Nolichuckey, in the town of Chuckey. I had classmates with many of these surnames in the eighth grade, up there in Greene county. This would explain why my mother's Sharps (Orange Co., NC) split, and some went to East Tennessee at an early date. Elizabeth Whitaker
