Hello Shirley, Your Rice and Gregory names caught my eye. I'm not sure of the connection either, but I think there is one. I have both names in my tree, a Rice and a Gregory who both married Roycrofts (who may have been brothers) about the same time in Wake. Unity GREGORY b abt 1765 Wake NC, and John (Roycartt) ROYCROFT b abt 1766, married in Wake, NC 17 Oct, 1786 Charlotte RICE and Thomas ROYCROFT b abt 1770 NC, d abt 1837 Wake NC, married in Wake, NC 3 Aug, 1789 Checking the IGI Batch and other reference numbers, I find Batch Numbers A458599, 600, 601 and 602 all have Rices and/or Gregorys. Batch Number A458599 includes the 4 GREGORYs shown below as well 16 entries for various RICES (not shown). 1. Unity GREGORY - International Genealogical Index Gender: F Marriage: 17 Oct 1786 Wake, North Carolina 2. Patience GREGORY - International Genealogical Index Gender: F Marriage: 1 May 1817 Wake, North Carolina 3. Charles GREGORY - International Genealogical Index Gender: M Marriage: 2 May 1818 Person, North Carolina 4. Bettie GREGORY - International Genealogical Index Gender: F Marriage: 1 Sep 1866 Rockingham, North Carolina Batch Number A458600 includes: Tandy RICE, Male, married Sarah SAMPSON 28 Nov 1762 Goochland, Virginia. Batch Number A458601 includes: Patsey GREGORY, married David TURNER 7 Oct 1815 Wake, NC. Batch Number A458602 includes: Charlotte (Charlolly) RICE, married Thomas ROYCROFT 3 Aug 1789 Wake, NC. It looks like the same researcher may have made these entries. The names are all similar, but the dates are wide ranging. There must be some more clues. They all seemed to live in NC, many in Wake. Let me know if you find anything here that helps. --- Regards, Marion Paterson, San Diego <[email protected]> Rootsweb Donor ******************************************************* Researching ROYCROFT, BRITTAIN & BOOTH - NC & AL 1700+ ******************************************************* Shirley Drake Maynard Wrote: >>I don't know the connection between the GREGORYs and the RICEs of NC.
