Can anyone help me out with this bit of Wake Co. Ferrell confusion: In 1850 Burton (b. 1808) and Mary Bunn Ferrell lived in Wake Co., Western Division, with their family, including oldest son Wesley, age 16 (b. 1834). In Dec 1854 a Wesley Ferrell married Catherine Terry in Wake Co. (after her death he married Artelia Pope). In Dec 1857 a Wesley Ferrell married Pennina Gully in Wake Co. In 1860 Wesley (b. 1839) and Catherine lived in Wake, North West Division, with their family. I can't locate Wesley and Pennina. (Burton and Mary lived in North West Division) In 1870 Wesley (b. 1833) and Catherine lived in Wake, Cedar Fork - and Wesley (b. 1834) and Pennina lived in Wake, Barton's Creek. (Burton & Mary lived in Oak Grove) SO, my question is - which Wesley (really William Wesley or Wesley William) is the son of Burton Ferrell and Mary Bunn? Proximity in 1860 and the fact that in one census Catherine's husband used the middle initial W suggests that the William-Catherine couple is Burton's son, but who, then, is the other Wesley??? ANY enlightenment will be greatly appreciated. Joanne Pearce Gaudio
Joanne, can't help with this Burton Ferrell, but we had a Burton Ferrell born 1806, in the Montgomery Co., N.C. census and his wife was also Mary, I believe. My next door neighbor for 40+ years, is a Ferrell out of this Burton and he has a family album covering their branch; although I don't believe the album goes beyond him. My reason for mentioning this, is that I suspect these Ferrells migrated out of Wake early on with others such as Moodys, Birds, and most likely others in case you ever need to look at uncles and cousins of your Burton.
