The first one in my records is William Hinton b.1750 in Pasquotank Co., NC, d. Dec 7 1783 in New York City. He married a Phoebe Smith in Apr 1772 in NY. William apparently had a brother named John. Their children were William Smith Hinton b. 1772 in NY, Anne Hinton b. 1774, Sarah Hinton, b.1777, Thomas Hinton, b. 1779. Interesting tidbit- William's brother John had a daughter, Caroline who married her first cousin, Thomas , son of William Smith Hinton. If you haven't already checked on RootsWeb.com try ( I haven't been on there in forever so I don't even remember exactly how I got to the info) looking up in the Hinton lines a history by Roger Howland under the Howland, Morrison & Allied families.
