To Mary Williams, Are you kin to the Bells in Wake Co., or further back, in Surry/Sussex Co., Va? I have found a Burwell Bell in my Freeman records and it goes like this -7 Jan 1799 Wake Co., NC Deed Bk Q/37 - Burwell Bell of Wake Co. sells for 10 sh. to John Freeman, Jr. of same place, a parcel of 10 ac on N bank Crabtree Ck. at the bridge adj. his own land, it being part of a tract gt. Godfrey Hartsfield from the State of NC. Wit: Francis Phillips, Andrew Hartsfield (The transcribed record had this as just John Freeman, but a copy of the original gave it as John, Jr.) I don't know what years you are working on, but back in Va. the Freemans and Bells were kin. I would have to look this up and supposedly per DNA, the Freemans in Va. were not mine, but this one in Wake is. John, Jr. Freeman is a brother to my ancestor Needham, both sons of John who d. 1800 Wake.
