    3. Check out the State Archives website before you go. They have been doing some extensive renovations and may not have reopened. The State Library's Genealogical Library should be open as it has been renovated....but you can get the hours and days that they are open from their web sites. Both are excellent and contain info from all over the state. Olivia Raney is a neat, new place on the edge of the city that you can visit when the other two are closed. All have very helpful staffs.Nancy HamiltonRed Lodge, MT 59068 > Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2007 04:19:48 -0800> From: akevanslg@prodigy.net> To: ncwake@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [NCWAKE] Genealogy Research in Raleigh> > Olivia Raney is excellent but limited with other county records. They do have the state's death certificates on microfilm, Civil War records, and other items. State Library's Genealogical Library is extremely especially when you consider it's in the same building with the State Archives which are really great. State Library and Archives are located on Jones St. between the Gov.'s mansion and the legislative building. A parking lot (pay as you leave) is across the street. Pretty sure it's still open to the public. Haven't been there for awhile during the week. It was open on Sunday when I was in Raleigh.
