    1. Re: [NCWAKE] Catherine Freeman
    2. W. Kirkland
    3. I cannot place this Catherine Freeman as being kin. In fact, I have tried, but cannot connect the family of John of Wake with the Franklin Co. Freemans. I used to think the Edward that died in Franklin in 1811 (and had children in Wake Co.) was possibly a brother of John, (d. 1800) as in 1785 one Edward Freeman was a witness with John Freeman in a Wake Co. McElroy deed. Micajah McElroy was a child of the sister of Martha Linn Freeman (John's wife) and the sister's 1st. husband Archibald McElroy, Jr. After Archibald died, Sarah Lin McElroy (Martha's sister) m 2nd. Jacob Heartsfield and they lived in Franklin Co. The DNA we have from a male cousin of mine does match any other Freeman DNA that has been tested and so far my paper trail cannot exactly pinpoint John ever being in Franklin, even though there were 2 early Johns there. Between 1801 & 1807-8, my Freeman family seem to leave Wake and went to Pendleton Dist., SC. Four of the youngest, unmarried daughters are unaccounted for, though, and could have married & stayed in NC. John & Martha had 12 children. Thanks for the info.
