    3. This is definitely a quest! Thanks so much for your response Joanne. Just wondering, you paid $20 for each? Thanks again, Tee Joanne Gaudio <jgaudio@charter.net> wrote: Tee, I've read your marriage license quest on the list and wanted to tell you my experience. I have definitely obtained copies of marriage licenses after 1868 from the NC Archives, one from 1881 and another from 1912. I didn't ask them - I simply filled out the out-of-state request form available on their webiste, ignored the dates they give on it, and requested the one I wanted. I had to pay the $20 (no getting around that!), but I received copies of the licenses. No one said anything about it, they just sent them. That was a year or so ago, but it worked then. 3. I would be willing to bet that the marriage licenses you want are on microfilm at the nc state archives. I'm sure the indexes are. You'd be better off ordering a copy of the microfilm for $12 per reel and taking it to your local library to view/print/save to CD. If you have an LDS regional family genealogy library near you, they will order the microflm for you. Here are some nc archives links http://www.ah.dcr.state.nc.us/archives/records_county.htm#marriage http://www.ah.dcr.state.nc.us/archives/fees.htm http://www.ah.dcr.state.nc.us/archives/FindingAids/Circulars/AIC5.pdf Hope this is helpful Kim Wrenn Durham NC ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tee Richardson" <ressa06@yahoo.com> To: <ncwake@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 20, 2007 12:24 PM Subject: Re: [NCWAKE] Marriage Certificate/license > This is definitely a quest! 3. Yes, Tee. The Archives has no slack on the fee! If you live out of state, it's $20 a pop, and if they search and find nothing, you're still out the $20, so be sure you know the marriage is there before you send the money! Good luck. Joanne Gaudio
