    1. Search of Old Newspapers
    2. I recently posted a request for information about searching old newspapers which might have covered a possible ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh at the October 17, 1883 re-interment of the bodies of Confederate soldiers which had been retrieved from a mass grave in Arlington. Thanks to the suggestions and a little help, I am pleased to note that not only did such a ceremony take place, but it was covered in articles in the Farmer and Mechanic weekly and in The State Chronicle, which I now have or have made arrangements to obtain. I understand that the Olivia Rainey Local History Library has microfilmed copies of The Raleigh Register for the period 1790 - 1886. If anyone is making a regularly scheduled visit to this library and would be willing to check the Raleigh Register records for an article covering this re-interment, I would gladly pay for copying and postage. Thanks, Steve Dixon
