    1. [NCWAKE] Fw: Pool Slave Narratives
    2. Betty A. Pace
    3. Donald & Henry I see you come from the Pools of Johnston & Wake Co. NC. I explored them for a while looking for the parents of my John Pool (wife Elizabeth). He turned up in Rowan Co., NC and bought expensive property in 1810. Ithink he came from some other county. Sons David Lawton and Joseph. John Pool died in 1832. I think you might be interested in the ex-slave Parker Pool. These are slave narratives written down by the WPA in the 1930s. Parker Pool came from the Pools in your area--I think his master was a Lewis Pool, but not sure. The collection of interviews is contained at the Library of Congress & can be read on-line. Go here: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/snhtml/snhome.html I clicked on search by keyword & went down to the big search box and entered the name Pool. Parker Pool is the 2nd entry I think. You can also search by state, etc. The state doesn't matter because slaves were moved around and after the Civil War, went to other states entirely--the state shown is the state where the interview took place in the 1930s, and the ex-slave would have to have been really young to live from Civil War times to the 1930s. My Poole's were from Wake County, N.C. Thank you. Donald E. Poole Windham, Maine.
