The "City Cemetery" is located at the intersection of East and Hargett and the property extends north towards New Bern Avenue. It is a 7.5 acre cemetery that has origins dating back to the late 1700's. Several prominent figures in Raleigh history are buried there. As for the "Old City Cemetery" I am not sure what or where you are referring to. The three City of Raleigh owned and managed cemeteries are: * City Cemetery (described above) * Mt Hope Cemetery (Prospect Street and Old Fayetteville Rd) * O'Rourke Cemetery (Tarboro Road and Pender) My department, Parks and Recreation, maintains the records for the cemeteries. As an important note: Two fires at City Hall in the past destroyed many / most of the original records of these sites.
