    3. The "City Cemetery" is located at the intersection of East and Hargett and the property extends north towards New Bern Avenue. It is a 7.5 acre cemetery that has origins dating back to the late 1700's. Several prominent figures in Raleigh history are buried there. As for the "Old City Cemetery" I am not sure what or where you are referring to. The three City of Raleigh owned and managed cemeteries are: * City Cemetery (described above) * Mt Hope Cemetery (Prospect Street and Old Fayetteville Rd) * O'Rourke Cemetery (Tarboro Road and Pender) My department, Parks and Recreation, maintains the records for the cemeteries. As an important note: Two fires at City Hall in the past destroyed many / most of the original records of these sites. There is not a guide of who is buried where but our Cemetery supervisor does maintain records that track this. If you have any other questions please let me know. Stephen C. Does the Planning Department of Raleigh City government maintains records for the cemeteries. Is there a guide that provides information on who is buried where for the city owned cemeteries? “E-mail correspondence to and from this address may be subject to the North Carolina Public Records Law and may be disclosed to third parties by an authorized City or Law Enforcement official.”
