Samuel SMITH 1st Major; Thornton YANCEY Thornton 2nd. Maj. ; Capts: John OLIVER, Bartlett SEARCY, Bartlett Richard SEARCY, Thomas SATTERWHITE. Feby4, 1778. Robt LEWIS Esq. prod Com'n. as " Colonel of the Granville Militia." Captains: Bartlett SEARCY, Richard SEARCY, James JONES, Wm. GILL, Samuel FULLER, Abraham POTTER. Lieuts: Thomas GRANT, Joesph McDANIEL & James COZART. Samuel SMITH qual'd as Lieut Col.; & Cutbird HUDSON, as Major. Aug 2, 1775. Pet'n by Bartlett SEARCY for a grist mill on great Nutbush; contd. Henley BULLOCK Esq. has opened." First reference to schoolhouse on the Ct. Minutes. April 19, 1770 Bartlett SEARCY released from paying Levy for the year of 1769, having acted as Constable that year. Asa, Bennet, Bennett, Charles, John, John Jr., Martha, Samuel, Wm., & Richard SEARCY were all mentioned as either signing or witnessing marriage bonds. The ones that involved SEARCY marriages I have already listed. May 4 1774, Richard, John & William Hargranefs(sic) SEARCY were among other members of a jury to lay out a Road leading out of Dickerson's Road to Tar River where it crosses to go to Bradford Church and so on to Wake line the best and most Convenient way and make Report to the next Court. Under Servants and Apprentices: May 23, 1771. Joseph TAYLOR, (Atty) files pet'n. in behalf of Aaron SIMS for his "freedom." Summons to Saml. HENDERSON Esq. to show cause why he should not have it. Don, Carmelita, & Billye Patrice & and anyone else looking for SEARCY's, I hope you find something useful in these posts. I really don't know why they include Genealogies in the title of this book. There are a lot of clues to where and when these people lived etc. I guess, but that's not what I would call Genealogies. To bad they don't have all of these peoples ancestors and descendants listed.
