The Needham family was intermarried with Reddings in Pasquotank County, and they moved then to Randolph County. This would be Joseph Redding and his cousin Robert Redding (often spelled Reding), both of whom married Needham women. Joseph Redding died in Randolph County in 1815. -----Original Message----- From: ncwake-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ncwake-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of W. Son Needham named a son Redding/Redden/Reddin Freeman. I can find no marriage between the families and figure Needham must have just thought a lot of the Redding family to give a son that name. Any ideas? John also had a Francis Freeman & a Clary Freeman, which are also King names. Sam, This is very interesting. If Needham Freeman was named after the Needham family, this would have happened about 1765 when Needham was born in the area of what is now Wake Co. His mother was Martha Lin/Lynn, d/o James who had already come to the same area. I will check out these counties and see what I can come up with. At least this is something new to work with. Thanks.
