    1. [NCWAKE] Children of Lewis Liles

    3. This isn't only a Wake Co. issue, but since there are so many Liles located in Wake, this seems like the best list for my question. I'm descended from Kinchen Liles/Penelope Strickland ->Wrightman Liles/Nancy Jordan -> James W. Liles/Jane Riley -> Alice Liles/John R. Pearce, who are my great-grandparents. I've had very good luck (and lots of very good help from NC listers!) researching the whole family from Kinchen and Penelope on down. Now I thought I'd like to look at Kinchen's siblings. The Wake Co. Heritage Book says that Kinchen and his three siblings - Micajah, Chloe, and Drury - are the children of Lewis and Elizabeth Liles. I found their Johnston Co. marriages confirmed in the NC Marriage bonds - Micajah m. Nancy Woodard in 1793, Chloe m. Micajah Woodard in 1794, and Drury m. Winifred High in 1801. But after that - almost nothing. Drury Lyles is in the 1810 JoCo census, and Micajah Liles is in the 1820 JoCo census, but that's about it. Of course, if they lived in Wake, I can't look at those two censuses. I've seen some indication that Micajah's family went to SC and then to AL, but I can't find any confirmation of that. Then in 1850 there's a Jonathan Liles, who married Matilda Stallings in 1838, living in Nash Co. and he has sons named Kinchen and Drury - very suggestive that they might be uncles or even, in Drury's case - a father. Yet I can't find out anything about Jonathan before 1850. So - my question is - does ANYONE know ANYTHING about these other children of Lewis Liles????? Many thanks to anyone who can help!
