    3. Sue, Do you know whether or not you have an Allen Rogers in your family line? He would have been a grown man in the 1820's. He was mentioned in the estate settlement of John Warmoth as having been paid for taking care of some of the Warmoth property. This property could have been either in Wake County or Franklin County. John Warmoth owned property in both counties. Mrs. Warmoth was moved back to Wake County after John Warmoth died. 2. Kim Wrenn
    3. Hi Cindy, I just recently found some of the Yates' I'm researching buried at Hillcrest and did a little research. The cemetery is transcribed by Shirley Olsn in Interment.net. The part that is privately owned is interesting. I know I've seen a history somewhere online. It's possible the city obtained the land (possibly from the Page family) and made the rest cemetery public. For now, this is what I have at hand: Kim Wrenn According to the Cary NC public works and utilities website: Hillcrest Cemetery Maintenance The Town provides landscape management for Hillcrest Cemetery. All burials and grave openings are conducted by licensed funeral services. Monument installations are conducted by private monument companies on behalf of the family. Information about Hillcrest Cemetery may be obtained from the Superintendent of Public Works Building and Grounds at 319-4556 http://www.interment.net/data/us/nc/wake/hillcrest/index.htm Hillcrest Cemetery Cary, Wake County, North Carolina Lat: 35° 35' 36"N, Lon: 78° 43' 39"W Contributed by Shirley Olson, Nov 30, 2005, last edited Jun 22, 2006 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 1,169. Dir: From the intersection of Kildaire Farm Rd. (SR 1300) & Dry Ave., Cary, (where Cary Elementary School is located) and Academy St. begins, take Dry Ave. for .15 mi. to Page St. Turn left onto Page St. for about .10 mi. and it will take you directly into the cemetery. There are paved roads through the cemetery but no particular area to park. The cemetery is well maintained. Wake Co. land records show 4.9 acres, the property owner as "Cary Cemetary", mailing address "Cemetary St., Cary, NC 27511". The cemetery is in use and there is room for more burials. The current owner of this cemetery is the town of Cary, NC. I am indebted to Mike Mull, for supplying much of the information that helped me to record this cemetery. I walked the cemetery and verified the information, added and corrected names and dates from tombstones where required. I completed transcribing from all existing headstones and records Nov 30, 2005. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cindy Foster" <cindyfoster@nc.rr.com> To: <ncwake@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 12, 2007 10:01 PM Subject: [NCWAKE] History of Hillcrest-Cary City Cemetery > Hey all, > > I'm curious if anyone knows the history of this cemetery. 3. Hey all, I'm curious if anyone knows the history of this cemetery. I've searched the Olivia Rainey Library, Town of Cary to no avail. There is a section that is "privately owned" and the Town does not have plot numbers assigned to these burials. I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding the history of the cemetery and if anyone knows why a portion is considered "private" Thanks

    2. Joanne Gaudio
    3. Does anyone have any information about the bride's family in either of these two Wake Co. marriages: Ammy Riley (b. 1813) m. Gideon Hall on 4 Oct 1836 in Wake Co. They were in Wake in 1840 and 1850 but then went to Prairie Co., AR. Their children included Ann, Benjamin F., Michael, Guston, Alvester, Joseph Kemp, and Mary. (Ammy was listed as Anna in all the censuses, and one online genealogy said her name was Amelia) Elizabeth Riley (b. 1810) m. Mathew Marshburn on 10 Dec 1835 in Wake Co. In 1840 they were in Johnston Co. In 1850 they were in Wake listed as Moneyham and in 1860 they were in Wake listed as Marshborn. They had two children - Josephine (b. 1839) and McDaniel (b. 1842 and killed by lightening in 1859 according to the Federal Mortality Index). Elizabeth died and Mathew remarried Sarah Todd in 1865. They were the parents of 3 children, all of whom married into the Liles family. I'm trying to find out if either or both of these women could be the daughter(s) of James Duncan and Mary Polly Nutt Riley. Joanne Pearce Gaudio
