    1. Re: John Stephenson/Mary Ann Jones
    2. Hello, Wake Co. Researchers, I'm new to the list. I note in Ancestry's REDBOOK that Wake Co. marriage records go back to 1770. How wonderful! If anyone has access to the records (have they been published?), would they check for a marriage of John Stephenson and Mary Ann Jones in the early 1800's in Raleigh. They were married as early as 1828 (a daughter Martha Stephenson shows as 22 yrs. in the 1850 Pike Co., AL census), perhaps earlier for there may have been other children. Thank you for your attention. Dixie Clower Gallaher

    1. BURGESS-MAYNARD
    2. Maralee Phillips
    3. D.J. Your Naomi MINOR could be a -MAYNARD-MAINER-or many other spellings. My Sarah Mainer was the child of William MAYNARD.This William Maynard received a land grant in Wake Co.very early,as did Akilley BURGESS. There has been research done on most all of William MAYNARD'S children--except for Sarah, that married Akilley BURGESS in 1779. I have heard that Akilley BURGESS lived to be over 100 years old. I believe this to be true-as Edward BURGESS -in 1830 -has one male over 100 living in his home. Maralee Phillips

I would like to talk to anyone researching these names. Thanks, Judy

    1. Reynolds/Chamblee/Driver
    2. LaVerne
    3. I am looking for the family of the John Reynolds who married Mollie Driver in Wake Co. 19 Feb 1793 (with George Chamblee as bondsman) and the James Reynolds who married Rachel Chamblee (dau. of Isaac Chamblee/Lucretia Jones) in 1795. In his 1776 will, Sherrod Reynolds named sons Amos & John who along with several sisters, received cash. (John later moved to Dickson Co. TN) Sherrod left his estate including land identified as "west side of Bartons Creek) to his wife Ann and at her death, the land was to go to his son William. There is a William Reynolds on the 1790 census in Wake Co. who I believe is this son of Sherrod Reynolds. Does anyone have information on William? Who he married and his children? Who is the Ann Reynolds who sued (and was awarded 50 pounds) George Chamblee in 1797? Was she the widow of Sherrod Reynolds? or maybe Amos or William? The John Reynolds who m. Mollie Driver was the grandson of John Gay of Northampton Co. In his 1784 will, John Gay left his land to grandson John Reynolds (also mentioned in will is his daughter Martha Reynolds who was John's mother) John Reynolds married in Wake Co. to Mollie Driver 1793 (probably his second wife) who was the daughter of Charles Driver (in Franklin Co. census 1790 but died in Nash Co. by 1806). In a deed 32 Aug 1793, John Reynolds sold the land inherited from his grandfather to a cousin, Solomon Gay - in that deed he is identified as John Reynolds "of Nash Co." John & Mollie moved to Smith Forks in what was Smith Co. (now DeKalb) TN some time before 1806 when he was identified as John Reynolds of TN in Nash Co. estate records of his father in law Charles Driver. According to local history books for DeKalb Co. TN, John Reynolds had 3 brothers who also moved to this same Smiths Fork area - Josiah, Gay and James Reynolds. Was this brother James the same one who married Rachel Chamblee in Wake Co.? Brother Josiah was in TN by 1800 when he signed deed there - I believe the other 3 brothers, Gay, John & James moved to TN to join Josiah about 1805. They also were said to have a sister, Martha/Patsy Reynolds who married "a Driver" who also moved to this same TN neighborhood. Can someone help me sort out these Wake Co. Reynolds????

    1. Clifton, Garner
    2. Does anyone know who the father of James CLIFTON (Jr as in the younger) is? It is not James Clifton, Sr (as in the elder) b:1769 d: 1838. He is not the son of David Clifton and Lucy Hunnicutt who married in 1785. Could he be the son of the William CLIFTON who was buying land on Killian's Creek in Lincoln Co., NC in 1789? I have reason to believe this same William is the son of John CLIFTON (uncle of James and David ), so James Jr would be John's grandson. 2. Willie Smith
    3. I am looking for information regarding the marriage date in Wake County of James Reynolds to Rachel Chamliss, daughter of Isaac and Lucretia Chambliss. James was the brother of John Reynolds who married Mollie Driver, Joshia, and Gay Reynolds. We do not know who their father was. Their mother was Martha Gay Reynolds, daughter of John Gay, and granddaughter of Henry Gay Jr.of Virginia. Isaac Reynolds died about 1801. Is there a will transcript for him in Wake County? Does anyone know who the husband of Martha Gay Reynolds was? Thanks! Will Smith

    2. Joe Louks
    3. I am trying to find more information on Akilley Burgess. Tere are many spelling varations of Akilley; Askel, Askelly, Akin,..... He is believed to be the father of Edward Burgess of Wake Co. If so he was 113 years old when he died abt 1833. His greatgrandson stated in 1890 that he (Akilley) had served 4 years in the Continental Army during the Revolution. We find him in the 1830 Census in Edwards household as 100 and up, and again on a 1820 tax list as a 100 year old man living with Edward. Edward moved to Overton Co., TN in 1839 with only 3 daughters. I have checked the LDS files for newspapers in Wake Co. and the earlist is 1834 in I believe Dec. Does any one know of any earlier newspaper records? I am hoping that a 113 year old mans death would make the local news. any help would be appreciated. Joe

    3. I began searching my line of Baileys 10 years ago. I became very frustrated when I came to a wall and was not able to find a particular ancestor. I have an incredible amount of info. on Baileys in Wake County from a gentleman I met at the archives in Raleigh. However, I have not been able to connect my guy to the info. I have. I believe he is connected somehow. I am looking for any information on Alfred Bailey or Baily of Wake County, born in 1814, married Martha Lee (born 1816) in 1836 (I have the marriage certificate). Alfred and Martha had three sons: Alford, Joseph and Franklin. I can find no records for Alfred after 1836. In 1860 census, wife Martha was listed with two sons and oldest son was with her father, James Lee. But no sign of Alfred. I've decided I would try again after several years now to find this guy. Help!!!
