    3. Oh, one other thing I forget to say, Sherri. Did you know that Winningham is often written Willingham and vice versa? So, when I search Willingham for a cousin, I also check Winninghams. 3. Sherri, There are several mentions of Frederick Ezell, in "Abstracts of Records of Wills, Inventories and Settlements of Estates in Wake Co., NC" by Frances H. Wynne. Frederick , Phebe and Penny Ezell all witnessed the will of Thomas Hollingsworth in May of 1803. Frederick and Apeneth Ezell were witnesses to the will of John Felts in Aug. of 1802. The above Apeneth may actually been Asenith, because an Asenith Ezell, left a will in May of 1808 whereby he/she ? left money to the Baptist Church at the crossroads that he/she belonged to. He/she left money to Betsy and Nancy Embry, daus. of Joel Embry of KY. $10 to Phebe Ezell, to Frederick a Bible, household goods. Lent household goods to Polley Jones, wife of Abram Jones, for her lifetime, then to her dau. Ruth Jones. Betsey Lofton Moring, wife of Henry Moring got $20. The rest of the property was divided equally between Nancy Dean, dau. of thos. Dean and Lucy, his wife. Sally Ezell, dau. of Hartwell Ezell, Kitty, Betsey, Anna, Polley Wall, daughters of Burwell Wall and his wife Betsy. Exectrs = friends Frederick Ezell, Henry Moring, 13 Mar. 1808 Wit. Wm. Amos, Jurat, Ann (+) Thompson. In the estate sale of John Ezell, deceased, recorded May 1809 Frederick bought items as did Aseneth Ezell (another one?), Fred Ezell, John ezell, Hartwell Ezell, and Zadock Ezell was the Exectr. dated 15 Apr. 1808 Frederick files accounts of the estate of Asenith/Asenath/Assenith over the period of 3 years (1811). So he was there at least til then. If you can find copies of "Tenn. Valley Leaves" , you may find some records of the Alabama Ezell's. They were charter members of the Tenn. Valley, Gen. Soc., and submitted info. The couple I knew of, was from Madison Co., but they could have come from Dale. Hope this helps some. How about the rest of you on the list. This thing has been dead for weeks now. Can any of you help? I've had lots of unsubscribes, lately because no one is posting anything. Hello, out there ? 3. Hello List, Just a notice to let you know, I've finished extracting the census for, the upper half of Chatham Co., NC for 1850. So, many of the Wake Co., folks were also in Chatham Co, at one time or the other and many of connected families lived there. 1. Sacred Heart Cemetary
    2. Greg Barbee
    3. I am seeking information on Sacred Heart Cemetary. I contacted Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh, and was informed that the cemetary that was previously known as Sacred Heart Cemetary was given to the State of North Carolina (as opposed to the city of Raleigh) many years ago, and probably is known by a different name now. My ancestor, Mordecai B. Barbee, was apparently buried in "Sacred Heart Cemetary" in 1906, according to his death certificate. Furthermore, his wife, Mary (Gorman) Barbee was apparently buried in Catholic Cemetary in 1903. Does anyone have any information regarding the current names of these cemetaries (or if they're the same one, which they very well might be), and/or contact information? I'll check the Raleigh City directories to see about addresses (or at least cross-streets) back at the turn of the century, but any help on finding their current names/locations would be appreciated. Thanks again. Greg Barbee

    1. Looking for Bartlett and Mary Bridger
    2. I am new to the search for these people. They first show up in 1818 paying taxes in Twiggs County Georgia. Yes, Bartlett and Mary Bridger were born in 1794 in North Carolina and they left an awful lot of descendents. We don't even know Mary's maiden name. They are my great great great grandparents. One woman has been tracking them down for over 20 years. They had these children: John Melton, Brancey, Iverson, Mary Ann, Green B, and Cassandra. Could they have arrived on UFOs? :) I am in the process of perhaps going thru every single county in North Carolina to post. We have speculation, rumors, hearsay leading to many people but nothing of finger touching substance. If you happen to run across these people in your searches I may bow down to you. Wake County popped up somewhere so I thought I would try it out.

    3. Thank you Jim and Ellie, What a wonderful find ! I hope someone of you on the list knows of or is related to the FELT family. 2. Marion Paterson
    3. Hello Shirley, Your Rice and Gregory names caught my eye. I'm not sure of the connection either, but I think there is one. I have both names in my tree, a Rice and a Gregory who both married Roycrofts (who may have been brothers) about the same time in Wake. Unity GREGORY b abt 1765 Wake NC, and John (Roycartt) ROYCROFT b abt 1766, married in Wake, NC 17 Oct, 1786 Charlotte RICE and Thomas ROYCROFT b abt 1770 NC, d abt 1837 Wake NC, married in Wake, NC 3 Aug, 1789 Checking the IGI Batch and other reference numbers, I find Batch Numbers A458599, 600, 601 and 602 all have Rices and/or Gregorys. Batch Number A458599 includes the 4 GREGORYs shown below as well 16 entries for various RICES (not shown). 1. Unity GREGORY - International Genealogical Index Gender: F Marriage: 17 Oct 1786 Wake, North Carolina 2. Patience GREGORY - International Genealogical Index Gender: F Marriage: 1 May 1817 Wake, North Carolina 3. Charles GREGORY - International Genealogical Index Gender: M Marriage: 2 May 1818 Person, North Carolina 4. Bettie GREGORY - International Genealogical Index Gender: F Marriage: 1 Sep 1866 Rockingham, North Carolina Batch Number A458600 includes: Tandy RICE, Male, married Sarah SAMPSON 28 Nov 1762 Goochland, Virginia. Batch Number A458601 includes: Patsey GREGORY, married David TURNER 7 Oct 1815 Wake, NC. Batch Number A458602 includes: Charlotte (Charlolly) RICE, married Thomas ROYCROFT 3 Aug 1789 Wake, NC. It looks like the same researcher may have made these entries. The names are all similar, but the dates are wide ranging. There must be some more clues. They all seemed to live in NC, many in Wake. Let me know if you find anything here that helps. --- Regards, Marion Paterson, San Diego <[email protected]> Rootsweb Donor ******************************************************* Researching ROYCROFT, BRITTAIN & BOOTH - NC & AL 1700+ ******************************************************* Shirley Drake Maynard Wrote: >>I don't know the connection between the GREGORYs and the RICEs of NC. 1. First Timer--DRAKE/GREGORY
    2. A few years ago, I found my gr.gr.grandparents' marriage in the Wake Co., NC marriage records. Simon DRAKE married Patience GREGORY, 1 May, 1817. Simon was found in Rowan Co., NC on the 1830 census and I know for a fact he was there for the birth of the third child in 1823 and 3 subsequent children were born in Rowan Co. In 1840, Patience Drake was head of household in Greene Co., IN. Just yesterday I received a temple film from SLC that has Simon and Patience Drake marriage listed with the RICEs of NC. Only one was from Wake Co. however. William D. Rice married 11 Aug., 1845, Aby D. MARRIOTT. Among all the Rices' marriages there were only 2 for GREGORY. The above named Patience, and Charles GREGORY who married 2 May, 1818, Polley JACOBS in Person Co., NC. Thomas Pritchett entered these names for baptism which was accomplished in the Manti Temple, Utah, 1954 and whose proxies were done by the CLARK family who were either visiting or living in the area at that time. I don't know the connection between the GREGORYs and the RICEs of NC. Nothing further was in the IGI or the AF on any of the names submitted for baptism. Please, is there anyone in Wake County who could help me on the GREGORYs, especially? We have nothing on Patience, not even where she was born. I would bet Charles is part of her family, however, perhaps a brother. Shirley Drake Maynard
