Hi, folks, I just joined this list and would like to introduce my interests. I am researching the ancestry of Sampson Dawster HELMS, b. May 7, 1824, Mecklenburg County, NC., now Union County. He reportedly moved with his parents (unknown) about 1836 to GA, where he married Missouri Caroline Parker, Dec 24, 1846, Muscogee County, GA. I have been unable to definitively connect Sampson Dawster HELMS to any of the many Helms lines in and around Union County. But there is circumstantial (speculative?) evidence that he could be the son of Charles HELMS and Holly (Unk), who also appear later in Muscogee County, GA.. I am also interested in learning more about DAWSTER/DOSTER families of this period for possible connections there. Was Holly HELMS possibly a DOSTER?
