    3. Dale, Thanks for your suggestion. I checked the site again to be sure that there were no additions that were in the correct location or time frame. I have checked census records, city directories, cemetery records (only initials on tombstones) and all of the standard online search sites. Apparently John Wesley Miller was a very popular name! Everything I know about John Wesley Miller, has come from 2 histories of the Methodist Church in SC. The areas of Anson, Union, and Mecklenburg Counties were administered by the SC Methodist Conference in those days, and I thought perhaps someone might be familiar with an early church that is still in existence. I know from my research of my mother's family, that most folks in the area were Baptists, and many of them such as "Uncle Joe Bivens," are connected to my families. I thought of sending a query to for the CGS (I am a member), but thought I might just catch someone who knew about early Methodists in the area. I rec'd a message from Doug Baker who is also looking for a Methodist ancestor in the region. Doug writes: I'm really trying to learn more about my gggranfather, Churchwell Lowthorpe who was a trustee of that church in the 1850's. I hope to find records of marriages, funerals, membership data etc which will lead to knowing Churchwell's wife's maiden name, confirm the children whom they had and maybe learn where the family members were buried. Any ideas you may have regarding this approach to learning more about my family would be most appreciated. My home email is dbaker04@aol.com AGAIN, thanks for the suggestions. Any Methodists in the area who may know the names of Pre Civil War Methodist Churches? chp >Cythnia, >Take a look at this site and see if any of these are your John Wesley >Miller. >http://www.familytreemaker.com/cgi-bin/iff >Dale Deason
