Union County List Members; The Union County Mailing list in the past has always been a group of kind and helpful researchers. Until lately we never had a Derogatory comment whatsoever on this list. I would like to thank those of you who have kept the messages on the list focused on Union County Genealogy. The best way to handle rude comments is to ignore them. If you feel you must reply to such comments, please don't reply to the list, send the message directly to that person. We don't want people to stop posting messages to the list out of fear of being verbally attacked. Thanks Randy Godfrey Union County GenWeb Coordinator
I have never been to Union Co. but my ancestors lived there at one time. Is there some long standing feud amongst inhabitants and listerts ? In the short time that I have been on this list I have seen several flashes of cruelty, arrogance, and bitter vengefulness. A distant cousin from the nearby Stanley Co.list spoke recently of some heartless treatment received from inhabitants there. Is there some spirit from which the area needs deliverance? I am just here to find information on my Hinson/Hudsons and related families. I do not enjoy the adolenscent, cyber soap opera and I definetly do not feel like cheering on one side or the other. I am more interested in the content of the messages than the format or style used. Please include some elements of mercy with the rest of your Southern charms.----Karen Kerr

D & D, Your rudeness is amazing! Is it not possible for you to converse with people, without resorting to such rudeness? William made a simple statement. Sorry, Moses Stegall is as far back as I can trace my own Stegall roots. Thanks for the info on Dossey. There is a short book by Esther Williams Berlin called "History of the Long and Williams Family", which I found at the Union Co. Genealogy center at the Old Monroe Court House, which discusses Dossey a bit, and lists 6 of his child. Berlin's book also says that Dossey ran a mill on Rocky River. Thanks again for the Williams info. -----Original Message----- From: Barbara Moore <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, September 08, 1999 10:54 PM Subject: Re: [NCUNION] William Dossy Williams? >My notes indicate that William Dossy Williams was a farmer who in the the >1850's was farming with Henderson Williams as well as with Enoch. George A. Helm and his wife will have death certificates filed in the county and state in which they died; which sometimes reveals the name of their parents. Write to The State Vital Records office; if they have it - they will send you a copy for a small fee. Gerald Helms

My notes indicate that William Dossy Williams was a farmer who in the the 1850's was farming with Henderson Williams as well as with Enoch. I have heard, but not yet have the proof, that he operated a mill on Rocky River. William Dossy and his wife along with Enoch (William Dossy's son) a couple of Enoch's wives and I think I remember a couple of his children are buried at Saint Martin Lutherans Church in Stanly County. We, too are related to the Moores and the Stegalls. Our ancestors are Andrew Jackson Moore and Martha "Patsy" Stegall who came from Union County. We would like to have anything on Moses Stegall's parents. Don't have anything on William Dossy Williams. Do you have anything on our ancestors? Maybe we have some information about the Moore and Stegall Lines that would be of interest to you. We would like to share data.
