I don't have any of my info on the Computer yet but my Husband's Mother and Father were Wolfe's. My husband, Carl Franklin Wolfe, Jr's Grandfather was Nathan William Wolfe and his Grandmother was Caroline Amanda Franck from Sandy Run Community near St. Matthews, SC in Calhoun County. Carl's Mother's Parents were Asbery Franklin Wolfe and Julia Agnes Martin and they were from Orangeburg County, SC near Neeses, SC. The Calhoun County Wolfe's decended from John Wolfe, a Swiss Immigrant and we hare a book "The Geigers of South Carolina" complied by Percy L. Geiger in 1945 that we got from my Father-in-law after his death in 1989 that has family lines in it until that time. I don't know if a new edition has been made. We have a copy of another book on the Orangeburg County Wolfe's that we got from my husband's cousin in Florida a couple of years ago but it is very old too. they are descended from J.R.D. Wolfe and Mildred D Roberson. I have noticed in the info on Monroe, NC history that there were Wolfe's around the time of it's beginnings. Betty Aldridge Wolfe [email protected] Cayce, SC 29033 n
Hello Mike and others Just so happens that yesterday I received the Tennessee Soldier's Application For Pension of James Pleasant GRIFFIN my ggg uncle born in Union Co. NC (the son of John GRIFFIN and Nepsy BRIGMAN). He served in Company D of the 37th NCI (as confirmed in Mike Laney's Roster of Confederate Units of Union Co. NC). He listed his Company Officers as: J. B. ASHCRAFT Captain can't read others. James Pleasant indicates in his application that he was wounded at the second battle of Manassas Virginia on Bull Run on 29 August 1862. He lists "disabilities from a gunshot wound on the left leg about two to six inches above the ankle joint. About four inches of tibia or larger bone of the leg is gone said to have been removed in April 1863, about eight months after the wound was received. The wound is uppurating excessively from an open ulcerating sore about 2 1/2 inches in length and more than an inch in depth. The ankle joint is stiff and greatly enlarged" 6 May 1893. The attending physician was J. S. BLAIR and ALEXANDER - both living in Union Co. NC. James Pleasant GRIFFIN died 28 Feb 1915 in Weakley Co. TN. Jim Griffin -----Original Message----- From: Michael C. Here's a little something: PLANS FOR A CONFEDERATE REUNION IN UNION COUNTY, 1879 >From The Monroe Enquirer, Saturday, August 9, 1879 Preliminary Meeting of Soldiers "According to previous notice, a meeting of the old soldiers of Union County, was held in the Court-house in Monroe on Saturday, the 2nd day of August, for the purpose of making arrangements and appointing the time for a general re-union of all the old soldiers in the county. The meeting was organized by calling Capt. C.M.T. McCAULEY to the Chair, and Geo. C. McLARTY was requested to act as Secretary..." "...The several committees were then appointed:" Committee Co. Thanks everyone for your input on my Medlins. I believe my T. M. Medlin and Thomas Medlin is the same person, but must search more records to be sure. Below is a list of my Eason/Medlin marriages. My great grandfather Hardy H. Eason married Sarah Ellen Medlin, daughter of Deberry Medlin and Mahala Richardson. Hardy H. Eason and Sarah Ellen Medlin's daughter, Daisy L. Eason married Albert Garrison Medlin son of Willis Medlin and Edith Griffin (Albert's second marriage). June 10, 1908 Union County, NC Hardy H. Eason and Sarah Ellen Medlin's daughter, Malvie Eason married G. C. Medlin, son of T. M. Medlin and Adline ??. I also have some Medlin\Rogers and Medlin\Williams marriages in my database, maybe some of your responses will help on those also. Thanks again. Ken Eason [email protected]
I just seem to suspect that T.M.Medlin's wife whose surname was Helms must be related to the Belks of Union Co..... I have a Polly Belk b.1835 md. (Unk) Helms.....they had 6 children. Isreal Helms [not a child in this fam, could be brother to (Unk)] md. Hannah Belk....so there should have been two Helms families there--I have only the names of the 6 mentioned above. Hannah Belk's mother was Mary Richardson; her father was Samson Doster Belk. Mary Irene Medlin b. 1856, was dau of Ervin Medlin. Mary md. 1879 Samuel E. Belk II. They had 3 ch. Was she possibly the sister of T.M. Medlin? It seems these families were all related in some way....many by marriage, but often they married cousins simply because there was a connection with most people in the County. I don't know if any of this is pertinent, but if you should find some connection to the Belks, please contact me. >From Union County marriage records I have G.C. Medlin (b. 1885) son of T.M and Adline Medlin to Malvie Eason (b. Oct. 1895) daughter of Hardy and Sarah Ellen (Medlin) Eason, married February 9, 1913. Also from Union County marriage records I have Thomas Medlin (b.1862) son of D. B. and Mahala Medlin to Addie Helms (b. 1863) daughter of Giles and Abigale Helms married June 12, 1879. The Sarah Ellen (Medlin) Eason and Thomas Medlin are sister and brother. My question: Is T. M. Medlin the same as Thomas Medlin, and Adline the same Addie Helms? Can anyone help? Thanks Ken Eason [email protected]

Thanks Ken Eason [email protected] >> Ken, I do not have an Addie or Adeline/Adline Helms in my Medlin line, but I do have a Thomas Medlin, b. 8/9/1861 as a son of John Deberry and Mahala Richardson Medlin, who could be your T.M./Thomas. I do not have a wife for him, but I do have a book on the Medlins.
