My Dad just bought Grandpa's birth place on top of the mountain. 60 acres of paradise - and Christmas Trees. Flat Creek Tree Farm goes way beyond Flat Creek these days. My Great Grandpa used to WALK from Wolf Mountain to the Balsam Grove area to work for Gloucester Lumber Company. > > >Buried Enon > > And moved later to Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery. I just tidied the stacks of stuff and can't find my cemetery book at the moment. What is with moving all these folks to Lakeside Cemetery (What local folks call Lake Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery 'cause we like shorter names)? There are lots of folks up there who have been moved from somewhere else. Starting to wonder if there are any original burials <g>. You would thinks these folks could at least stay still for us after they die. Do you know any removal details? Anyway, the paperwork says buried 15OCT1940 in Enon by Osborne & Simpson, Undertaker. Other interesting note - His wife's name is spelled "Susand". > > > >Wed (no middle name) Galloway b. 14JUL1887 Jackson County, NC > >Daddy - Cliffoed(their typo) Galloway Mommy - Pernelia Owen > >Died Cathey's Creek twp - 07NOV1966 - Carcinoma Prostate > > This would be Wedia G. Galloway. What kind of name is Wedia for a > boy?!?!?!?!!! Wonder where he was buried... Shame on me for skipping that detail. The certificate says Calvert Cemetery - that would probably be Mt. Moriah Calvert Bapt. Church in Rosman. -- Linda Hoxit Raxter http://www.rootsquest.com/~alextree lraxter@citcom.net Western North Carolina Cemeteries and More!
